Uhhhhh...
what?
He can’t hit AA pitching.
Just how bad does the org think Max’s defense is?
http://oursaviorchuck.ytmnd.com/
I think they made this move
because all the catching options suck offensively, so you go with the one that is the best defensively, and that is Teagarden.
Throwing
I think they’re looking to control the Angels running game; not a bat. Also, Tea’s in town, Max would have required a plane ticket.

Whoops
Newberg is actually saying that it bodes well for Texas in late-game pinch-running situations.
Sorry. Misread your post.
That's what I thought I read several weeks ago.
Maybe it was a just a defensive slump or maybe we’re both remembering wrong. Kind of doubt it.
I really thought and hoped I’d seen the last of Teagarden with the Rangers, but I guess not.

He made a poor throw to 2b last night
he threw it to the far left of the bag and lemon had to reach for it, and couldnt get the tag in time

We will love Treanor all the more after witnessing TfT's offensive futility.
Salty must have sexually assaulted JD’s dog or something.

i can't believe this move, now i miss Matt, something i never expected to say
Salty must be total shit and max as well when they call up a guy who sucks in AA, makes no sense

Under the Mendoza line in July and he strikes out more than 2009 Chris davis
And his defense is sooooooo overrated
I HATE this move
And that's under the Mendoza line in double A
That translates to around a .003 batting average in the bigs
Teagarden
I can’t really get worked up enough over the backup catcher to hate any move.
His defense may or may not be overrated, but there no questioning that it’s better than Salty or Max.

I wish they would have called up Kirkman to replace Feldman for tonight
by NellieCruzin4abruisn on Jul 24, 2010 4:18 PM CDT reply actions
yeah it will be a well used pen tonight, unless they just leave Feldman in to take one for the team

Fuse him and Salty together.
and replace their ligaments with maple bats.
Night/Day games
So you figure that Molina will be starting except for day games after a night game. Those games would be 1 August and 7 August. Assuming Treanor is only on the DL for 15 days, he should be back for the next day game after a night game (15 August). So if Teagarden only makes two starts plus the occasional pinch-runner duty, I can live with this.

arias and blanco
both guys are still on roster right?
blanco hasn’t played since july 11 (2 plate appearences)
arias plays once every 5 days
But......
…..Arias is SO valuable to have as the pinch-runner for Vlad late in games. Because, God knows, that’s the type of role the manager filled in his “playing” days.

Meh...
I’d much rather see MaxRam brought up.

Salty and Max are both out of the lineup
in game one of a double header in Oklahoma City.. I wonder if they were held out just in case they got the call

I wonder how shocked TT was when he got the call.
Probably thought he was getting sent to Spokane at first..

MaxRam should have never been sent down
And he should be playing 1st base against some (all?) LHP the team faces. 3 catchers may seem excessive, but Max could serve a much more useful role than Arias.
It’s amazing how much roster construction fail this team has overcome this year. So far.

Dump Arias first.
Blanco can be 2B, SS, and 3B, Arias can only at best play 1B and 2B

I can't understand why Arias is on this team
Blanco, as you said, can play any infield position (I assume he could play 1B in an emergency), and he needs to play more to stay sharp.

arias needs to go...blanco is a decent utility guy.
arias needs to be quartered.

Isn't Blanco the backup catcher?
Let’s put him in… couldn’t be any worse than Teagarden.

Sheets
Even with Sheets going to the DL?
by Excel Hearts Choi on Jul 24, 2010 4:52 PM CDT up reply actions
Trade Rumors
I think that if somebody was significantly better than Sheets, the A’s would have traded Sheets and promoted the more talented pitcher. There were plenty of trade rumors about the A’s dealing Sheets prior to the DL stint. I am not much worried about the A’s this year.
by Excel Hearts Choi on Jul 24, 2010 5:03 PM CDT up reply actions
I'm not saying there's someone better
I’m saying there’s someone that’s at least adequate to replace him
Why?
Similar record and better run differential. And also a better performance in plenty of projections coming in to the year.
The A's always spoook me a little.

i thought Max had done well enough during his time up here prior to the Molina trade
to warrant bringing him back in a situation like this. apparently not…
Two or three weeks ago
I was in the car listening to XM on the MLB channel. They got to talking about Salty. The host or guest or whatever he was said he had talked to Salty recently and he ( Salty ) was mystified why he was still in the minors.
My conclusion? Salty needs to read LSB
Puke.
