Matt Treanor to return on Monday?
The Rangers have a roster move coming tomorrow, to make room for Rich Harden on the roster, but it sounds like that might not be the only move...
According to Jeff Wilson, Matt Treanor is supposed to be activated tomorrow if his rehab start in Oklahoma today goes okay. If Treanor is activated, Taylor Teagarden would be optioned to AAA.
Teagarden would, of course, be recalled when rosters expand on September 1, and presumably would be the third catcher the rest of the way.

Can't we send Molina down instead?

And he has enough service time...
…he could refuse.

I didn't think it was possible...
but TT has actually given me a slight glimmer of hope with what he has done since coming back up.

I will miss him...
He seems to be a solid defenseive catcher, has hit the long ball a few times, has pulled a few walks and he does not clog the bases up. Apparently he works very well with CJ.
I think he's shown us
that he could be a decent back-up catcher, like most people believed he could be. Just don’t rely on him to start more than 2-3 games a week.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

I'd like to see them split time, with Molina taking most of the ABs against LHP
Season stats:
Molina (combined): .243/.295/.328, .274 wOBA
Treanor: .225/.304/.352, .293 wOBA
Career splits v RHP:
Molina: .265/.296/.385 (this season .203/.245/.286)
Treanor: .243/.328/.336
Career splits v LHP:
Molina: .296/.335/.483 (this season .359/.429/.449)
Treanor: .200/.283/.277

This is a serious post....
Was Molina this big last year?
Someone (Like the freaking conditioning coach) has to go up to him and say, “hey man, I’m not trying to be a dick here….but if you want to keep playing you need drop about 30 pounds….it’s effecting your productivity and it looks like you’re wearing a 10 year old’s chest protector”
I say all this cause I don’t know…but doesn’t someone have to hold him accountable for his conditioning (this would be in the off season, too late now)? What the hell do conditioning coaches do?
Plus he’s a FA after this year, it’d behoove him to put down the choco-chimis and start hitting the bricks.

they could
but what’s the threat to him?
not play? we couldn’t afford to just have him on the 25 knowing we’re not playing him. can’t send him down. only real thing we could do is release him, and he could just sign with another team, presumably

I meant more of his career moving forward...he knows that carrying all the extra weight is bad for his baseball playing, right?
and I really want to know if he was this big last year, anyone know?
His offensive production has taken a complete nosedive from ‘09….guess it’s the combo of being an obese 35 year old catcher.

I don't know that he was this fat.
I mean he’s always been big, but the size of the flab that hangs under the chest protector is just embarrassing. It’s hurting his playing production and his blood pressure.
Disaster averted:
Dodgers claimed C Rod Barajas off waivers from the Mets.
The Mets will just let the Dodgers pay Barajas’ remaining salary and not receive anything in return.

Hmmmm
Ive actually enjoyed what TT has provided
he has been solid since returning and seems to be seeing the ball better, drawing walks and the like
