Interesting Look at Baseball Finances
Deadspin got a hold of some financial documents for the Pirates, Rays, Marlins, Angels and Mariners. They say they have (at least) one more too that they are preparing.
Considering how secretive the MLB clubs usually are with this information, this might be the first really good look at this financial information.
Here is the Pirates, Rays, Marlins and Angels.
Here is the Mariners.
Also, here is Maury Brown's initial take.
I haven't had a chance to really look through the documents yet, but this could be extremely interesting. I'd love to hear anyone else's take (especially those of you more familiar with accounting than I).

I was just about
to post a link to the ESPN article about the Pirates. Interesting stuff. I’ll have to read the others.
wow
Wow, wow, wow!!!
It does seem like low payroll teams are cash cows for thier owners. This just really shows how bad Hicks screwed thing sup.
Apparently
The Rangers are the last team they have financial statements on…should be interesting.
Pirates vs. Angels
Pretty strange. The Pirates make money (but suck) and the Angels win (but lose money). It must be frustrating to be a Pirates fan and watch your ownership essentially try to run a business and make about $15 million a year. I mean, profits are fine, but, why not own another company outside of the MLB?
"Do you understand probability theory? Yes, I do. The Rangers will probably lose."
