Happy birthday, Doug Glanville
Happy birthday to Doug Glanville, who turns 40 today.
Glanville spent half of the miserable 2003 season with the Rangers, before getting to escape to the Cubs in a deal that brought the Rangers back Jason Fransz.
Not a long time Ranger nor a great major league player, but one of the more interesting guys to have worn a Ranger uniform.

Huge MMORPG fan, as I remember...
used to play Ultima Online (so did I).
Even bigger UO nut: Todd Pratt.
UO was my favorite game of all time
until EA fucked it up by catering to the whiny little bitches. I’ve never really enjoyed an MMORPG since.

I remember talking in-game with someone from Japan
…we were talking about the World Series (FLA-CLE) and I remember being blown away by the ability to talk with someone in Japan. This was before they added the Japanese, Korean, and Australian servers.
i believe schilling was a huge MMO fan
cant remember what game though
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.

schilling is actually developing a videogame
it’s a console game iirc.
I had friends when I was like 10 who loved UO.
One of the few things that made me totally pissed about having a Mac.
I remember taking my buddy to sit on the 3rd row
right by the Rangers dug out and upon seeing Glanville for the first time getting lose in the on-deck circle he yelled “Hey Glanville, who’s swinging who!?!” and Glanville turning around and acknowledging the humor.

Glanville was fun to watch
but I especially like his work after he’s retired. He’s a great writer with some great stories to tell.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

Yep, I bought his book and it's a good read. He's well-educated and well-spoken.
Ephesians 3:20-21...and I can only imagine
i was wondering about his book
good read or very good read?
also, he went to penn and was an engineering guy IIRC

Wasn't it Chris Rock that went off on the use of "well-spoken"??

OT:
I just realized that, starting in 2012, Ryan Howard will make more than Joe Mauer every year until his contract expires in 2016 (or 2017, if the option is exercised).

It's the RBIs
I mean, Joe Mauer is good, but he’s no Ryan Howard. It takes pure talent and talent alone to accumulate RBIs.
THE RANGERS ARE FULL OF UNBELIEVEABLE SUCK GIVE UP NOW IT DOES NOT MATTER GOOD BYE.
