We all know GDTs are really for movie talk anyways...
especially when one team looks like it’s dead in the water.
So anyways, I don’t know if anybody else here really knew his work, but Satoshi Kon passed away this week. Probably the most talented animation director not named Hayao Miyazaki or maybe Andrew Stanton.
If you haven’t seen anything, I’d recommend Perfect Blue or Paprika for sure, with Paprika being one of the more surreal films I’ve ever seen.
Paprika is one of the top animated films of all time.

have you seen either of Mamoru Hosoda’s works? Summer Wars was a lot of fun, but it wasn’t as good as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, which was one of the most pleasant surprises I can remember seeing (and another one of those 2008 films that came out of nowhere that I just really loved)

I always move stuff to the top, so the same movies sit at the bottom for years. I stopped adding movies for a long time and started to catch up. Movies were arriving that I had added to the queue back in 2004.

but it’s on TV here. Most of the time it’s not the Rangers feed, and when it is, it seems like the Rangers lose, as it was last night.
I can't imagine life without MLB.tv
MLB sucks at a lot of things. Streaming their games is not one of them. It costs some money, but super well worth it.

I would join the Navy too.
My dad was a river rat in Nam. Stationed on the Kittyhawk for a while.
my dad never served
but has pushed every one of his children into the military whether they wanted to or not.
I was going to be a nuke in the Navy, but I have spina bifida, so I got a medical discharge when I could barely move in boot camp.
My sister served in Iraq (Army)
and my little brother is about to ship off to the Marines.

My diagnosis was basically one of the best things that ever happened to me
I didn’t want to be there, and I was only there because my dad had pushed me into it.
Of course, the fact that the military knew I had issues and still put me through two months of hell because my doctor was too lazy to read my fucking file was definitely not one of the best things that ever happened to me.
I actually feel really sorry for my brother, because he had a dream and a skill that he suddenly gave up on and just accepted he was going into the military. He had some scholarship offers in wrestling, and just threw them away.

Yeah, that’s something I don’t understand. No offense to your dad, but I could never press my kids into doing something they didn’t want to do. You could also tell the people who were there that just didn’t want to be there and that made it much, much harder.

When I went back to the US in July
for my mother’s funeral, on the drive over, basically all my dad and I did was fight about politics.
He always leaned conservative, but it wasn’t really until this trip that I kind of figured out how much of his beliefs he just parrots from AM Radio.
