Derek Holland is in Arlington
Derek Holland is in Arlington, according to T.R. Sullivan.
I'm guessing that he's here so that he can be activated, should the Rangers decide that Frankie Francisco needs to go on the disabled list. And of course, if he's activated today, he would be available in the bullpen, should Rich Harden have one of his bad-Harden starts.

this year
is kinda shot for him anyway. assuming he stays for at least a few days, this makes him post season eligible, right?
Anyone who is in the organization...
…who the Rangers want to be on the postseason roster, they’ll be able to get on the postseason roster, whether they are in the majors or minors on 9/1.

Holland's 2010
I think this is a little bit of an overstatement. Holland has thrown 80+ innings so far this year and will throw over 100 by the end of the year. It has not been a great year but far from a lost year.
That's exactly right.
Just overlook AJM’s stuff on this. Yeah they could but it’s a hassle and the Rangers see that and this is why they are doing things the way they are at the moment.
DUTCH!

Holland v. Harrison
If you were to choose one lefty of Harrison/Holland for the post-season roster, which would it be?
Holland.

Harrison has really come on in his relief role, so I might say Harrison.
I like Holland more, though.

I've never really liked Harrison that much
but he’s done well in the bullpen. Holland obviously has a higher ceiling, but hasn’t ever been up long enough to reach it.
"Does this effectively hide my thunder?"
At this point...
I’d just play it safe with Frankie and put him on the DL. Hopefully it’s not serious and he’ll be ready to go come October.
No need to chance it with a huge lead and the rosters expanding in a few days. The ’pen will have plenty of options here shortly. DL Fx2, and as AJM alluded to, Holland can go multiple innings tonight if bad Harden shows up.

I don't know, maybe he'll woo them with a paddle boat ride

The Texas LLWS coach blew this game wide open.
He should have taken the starter out after he walked the first two batters in the third. This kid has nothing.

So listen better to yourself if you talk to yourself?
If you say something that you need to do out loud, you remember it better than if you would just thought it?
Ugh, correction.

Just bought 2 new Rangers' hats today,
now I see the antler/claw shirt is out. I feel so much more inclined to buy stuff with Greenberg/Nolan in the drivers seat.
I can't wait to post my new Photoshop creation on the GDT
I hope you guys will enjoy it

Francisco goes on the disabled list
The Rangers have placed pitcher Frank Francisco on the 15-day disabled list with a strained muscle in his right ribcage and called up Derek Holland from Triple A Oklahoma City.
Holland has been mainly used as a starter this season, both with the Rangers and at Oklahoma City. But he will work out of the bullpen for now as a long reliever.
Francisco has been bothered by the strained muscle for the past 7-10 days and he left Friday’s game after facing just two batters. Francisco felt the muscle pull after a leadoff walk in the ninth and he was immediately removed from the game.
