But we’ve done nothing since! Inconsistency is killing us, and we’re all too blind to see it because the rest of our division sucks. We’ve been getting wake up calls from every other team we’ve played and failed to beat, yet nobody is worried, or expects better. I do. And I’ll tell you who else does: Nolan Ryan. I'm not so sure why everyone is disagreeing with you here?
I’m not saying the season is lost. I’m not saying this team isn’t going to the playoffs- they are. But, if it wasn’t for a 16-2 stretch we had against sub .500 teams in the month of June, we would be no better than Oakland. The team is inconsistent. They shutout the opposing team one night and then the next they suck hard and give up 7+. The offense scores 2 one night and 9 the next. Sure, we beat the twins 3 out of 4. That was awesome. We also got swept by Baltimore before the all-star break. I know everyone on here is trying to be optimistic and be happy for what is going on, but I am also being level-headed and saying that the way we are playing is scary. You don’t know what you’re going to get out of Cliff Lee on any given night anymore. You don’t know what our 6-9 hitters are going to do. One day we make amazing plays and the next we make 2 errors. Just saying it is worrisome to me, regardless of whether I am in the minority.

The pitching and the hitting aren’t in sync as much as I’d like but I feel like I have been saying this for years.
all teams lose a lot of games. like at least 60
we lost our 2nd and 3rd best hitters for a couple of weeks and we are still 7-7 in our last 14 against some fairly good competition. stop nitpicking

The thing that concerns me about Lee...
is the location of his pitches. There were points during the game where he wasn’t even close. Usually he has pinpoint command. The stuff and velocity is still there. He’s just not locating it. He needs to get in a room with Maddux and some video and figure out if it’s something different he’s doing or if this is just one of those stretches that every pitcher goes through.

To my thinking Wash has been given some slack since his comments concering the lousy defense in Tampa that lost Cliff Lee a game that shouldn’t have been lost. This game came down to having too many stupid mistakes.
Lee throwing it to center, Lee almost throwing to center, Ron trying to get Lee a win leaving him in to face Gordon, Treanor TRYING to bunt, and Ogando not just intentionally walking Yuniesky instead of throwing balls in the dirt.
I hope the recent trend of finding dumb ways to lose stops when the calendar hits October.

I want him to be our ace-iest of aces right now just like anyone else. So good that we can just sit back and enjoy the performance.
But to say his slump is unexpected isn’t necessarily true.

I think about this game, the less pissed I am. So, so many things had to go wrong for the Rangers to lose, and I don’t see the them as a team that screws up as much as they did tonight. There was a fluky Betancourt home run, 2 botched double play balls (most costly), a run that wouldn’t have come close to scoring if Cruz is manning right field, and generally poor performances by Oliver and Ogando, who are usually nails.
Then again, I’m not an emotional guy and we’ve had wins where the other team was saying these same things, so whatever. Get them tomorrow.
