Rays...
I think the Rangers would have a better chance of eliminating the Yankees in the ALCS than the ALDS.
Either way, the Rangers will be the underdog, clearly.

Rays
but for the flip reason – I think the Rays are a lot easier to beat in a short series than a long series.
Go Rice Owls!

If the Rangers faced the NYY in the ALCS, we’d have home field. Right?
It's fun to do bad things.
Yep

Gimme the Rays
Yankees + October are something that can wait till the next round (plus that means that they will be the WC, so fuck their HFA)

Yanks
Their pitching is not as dominate, they are an older, slower team, and my psychosis needs…Nay demands revenge!

Any Rangers fan familiar with the Rangers playoff history wants the Yankees.
But I think we’re all in aggreeance that a triumph over the Evil Empire would be much more awesome if it were the ALCS and the win put us in the Series
So give me the Rays in the first round… they’re probably going to put us on during the daytime when nobody’s watching… but we’ll play the team who’s home field crowd probably has the least impact, and has the shittiest home turf in a shorter series…

what?
Any Rangers fan familiar with the Rangers playoff history wants anyone but the Yankees
is this some law of averages thing? how stupid do you have to be to beg for the team that pwned you in the playoffs all three times you’ve been?
if i get get hit by a car three times playing on the DNT, i don’t think that’s the best place to have a flag football game…
you can think it would be cool to avenge those losses three humiliations, but i think your statement is absurd
the teams are completely different in terms of coaches, owners and players – but the history is the same.

How big of a pussy do you have to be to not want to knock the team out that has owned you for so long?

b/c that's what's important...
how stupid do you have to be to care about that right now?
you’re like the guy that makes the late hit in the fottball game to make a statement. ooooo… tough guy.
first of all, all three teams are significantly better than Texas. i agree with goET that we are clearly underdogs in either matchup. i can’t see it making a difference who TEX plays first, but picking an opponent b/c they’ve owned you for so long is nonsensical at best.

Wanting to beat the Yankees b/c they beat us twice = Late hit in a football game.
Gotcha.

not what i said
the same mentality that goes into your idiotic statement (“How big of a pussy do you have to be…”) is the same attitude that goes into guys delivering late hits. maybe that’s not the best comparison, but your comment was so fucking stupid that it wasn’t easy to draw a parallel.
sorry.

"How big of a pussy do you have to be" was a direct response to you saying
“how stupid do you have to be” to someone who wants to beat the Yankees.
If you think it’s stupid to want to avenge a loss because you didn’t win in the past, then you are a front running pussy.
We swept them both at some point this year.
And they’ve beat up on us too. Tough question, really. I really don’t want to play either. Yankees I guess.

We took 2 out of 3...
in June, but we haven’t swept TB at all.

But I do agree with you.
I’d rather have the Yanks in a 5 game series.

I guess I remember wrong then.
I could have sworn we swept them. Oh well.

eff all that...Change up the poll
“if you were the yanks or rays, who would you rather play…Twinkies or Rangers?”
All those teams are fucking scared of the mother effing Rangers.

Give me the Yanks.
I just want to stay our of that awful Tropicana stadium
I would definitely want to beat the Yanks in the ALDS
I just don’t think we have the stuff to hang with the Rays over a short series. Maybe in a 7 gamer when we can see both Cliff Lee twice and CJ twice, but over a shorter series, the Rays would take us 99 times out of 100. The yanks on the other hand, I think is 50-50 right now, and if we can get out of round 1 against the Yanks, just think of what it’ll do for us in the FA market, let alone in keeping this fan base growing.
Bring on the Yanks...
I think the Rays have the better pitching and I think the Rangers can run all over Posada. Although CC and Andy kinda neutralize that advantage for their starts.

Both
I’ll take one in the ALDS and the other in the ALCS.
Cool?

Rays
a) I don’t want to listen to the whole historical success of Yanks v. Rangers in the ALDS story
b) If lose in the ALDS, I would want us to lose to the Rays
c) I think the Rays are less intimidating than the Yankees. Yeah, sure, you don’t want your team to be intimidated. But, I’d rather face Price than CC in Game 1. I’d rather pitch against Crawford/Longoria than Arod/Teixeira/Cano. And defense doesn’t intimidate.
Pretty much how I feel
Plus there will be many more Yankee fans at RBiA than Rays fans. Fuck the Yanks and their fans.
Give us the Rays.
that's impossible
two teams from same division can’t play each other…

Is Andy Pettite a known quantity yet?
I guess he has had a couple of good starts, but he hadn’t pitched since June. I think I take my chances against CC Sabathia and a potentially impotent Pettite… though that does make 4 out of the 5 ALDS games against leftys.
I just think the Yankees pitching is more vulnerable… and I would rather have that in a 5 game series.
