Rangers Make More Roster Moves
T.R. Sullivan has an update on a flurry of roster moves that have gone down today.
Taylor Teagarden has been recalled, Clay Rapada has been called up, Omar Beltre has been recalled and put on the 60 day d.l., and Dustin Nippert has been activated from the disabled list.
Although Sullivan says Rapada has been recalled, I think Rapada's contract was purchased, as I don't believe he was on the 40 man roster prior to today. That is why Beltre would have had to have been moved to the 60 day d.l.
In addition, Brandon Boggs has cleared waivers and been outrighted. If the Rangers don't add him to the 40 man roster before the end of the World Series, he will be a minor league free agent.

I don't want to lose Boggs
but I almost want him to leave so I don’t have to hear people incessantly whining about how he doesn’t get playing time
Go Rice Owls!
Well now you don't have to worry about either thing.
He got a chance up here and blew it, so now he’s back in OKC and we haven’t lost anything.

Why would you care about losing Boggs
if you don’t care how much playing time he gets?

I don't actually want to throw decent AAA players out of the organization
I just don’t want to constantly hear about why player X who does well in AAA despite being awful in the majors deserves to have a “shot”. They’re filler in case several real players get injured, nothing more…
Go Rice Owls!
He's an awful Big League player...

i agree, i dont wanna lose Boggs
To me he looks about as valuable as Murphy, but is cheaper going forward, and switch hits, and likes LHP.

I didn't think he was ever added to the 40, but I could be wrong
He might have had some sort of opt-out clause and he decided to stay with the Rangers instead. Now that I think about it, I am pretty sure he did. Either he or Geoff Geary.

I know he was added when we acquired him. We didn't sign him, so I doubt he had an opt-out..
When AJM posted about the transaction in December, he said…
The 40 man roster is now at 39.
Yeah, looks like we did outright him at some point...
Clay Rapada has cleared outright waivers, and the Rangers sent him to Triple-A Oklahoma City, according to the Hot Stove Blog on MLB.com.

He is not very good,
but he pitches with his left hand.
Hopefully he does not play.

What got me...
…was how he reveled in Davis being blindsided with the news of Moreland’s promotion while being interviewed on the radio.
That is schaudenfreude at its purest.

Are we a better team without Davis?

Meh..
What can you do at this point. Chris has had his chances.
If something falls apart at 1B, I’m sure we’ll see him. Hopefully by that point he’s ready to produce at the big league level. If he doesn’t see the majors again, you can’t blame anybody but him.

So do the Cowboys!
Adam_Schefter: Filed to ESPN: Dallas traded WR Patrick Crayton to San Diego. Chargers get another receiver that they could use.
Not really.
Lets us keep Hurd who can contribute more, imo.
