Got a few questions
I will admit, I am extremely ignorant and you could call me a recent bandwagon addition. I am hoping to change that by learning a bit more about baseball in general and about the Rangers. That said, feel free to blast me for posting stupid questions, as I'm sure these are and you probably get tired of seeing stupid posts.
If you can get past that, here are a few questions I would have.
First, I have read recently that some of the Ranger's farm affiliates will soon be changing. How does this affect our system other than location? Do we have to buy contracts of the guys at that farm level, then "sell" them to the new affiliate?
Second, and links to an easy to understand table or list of these so called "sabermetrics"? I grew up playing, but was never all that great and only thing I ever cared about was W/L.
And lastly (for now), can someone offer an explanation as to the way the playoff roster rules work? Is it just those on the 25 or can someone on the 40 as of September 1 be on the playoff roster, or what all goes on there.
If I think of anything else, I will be sure to keep it all in this thread. Thank you for those that are willing to help an ignorant guy like me. And for those that aren't, I can completely understand your frustration with me.

Some answers
1) Minor league contracts are owned by the major league club, and not the affiliates themself.
2) Fangraphs.com is your best site for a starting spot. Click on the glossary links for an explanation of the stats.

and feel free to do the same to any of us
None of us knows everything, and all of the stats need context and grains of salt.

minor league teams
all the players and coaching staffs are employed by the major league team. They will just move to the new locations (ie. OKC to Round Rock).
The minor league team owners’s job is to get fans in the stands so they can sell them beer and hot dogs and tshirts so they can make a profit. So they employ the marketing staff necessary to do this. This is what Greenberg did so wonderfully at his current teams. They usually lead their leagues in attendance but rarely had quality on the field. Thus his staff got them there, not the players on the field.
so does anyone know
when the last time the rangers had two possible pitchers getting cy young votes? Wilson stands to be near the top, this I know, but Lee may get a few for being Cliff Lee right? or am I wrong about Lee?
all the same, when was the last time the rangers had two possible people receiving cy young award votes (even if neither won)
1999
Aaron Sele and John Wetteland both got votes that year. In fact, that’s the last time any Rangers pitcher received even 1 vote.

To expand on this sad topic even more....
Here is the tiny list of Rangers pitchers who have gotten votes for AL Cy Young over the past 38 years.
Fergie Jenkins – 1974 – 2nd place although he should have won it.
Fergie Jenkins – 1978 – 6th place
Jim Kern – 1979 – 4th place
Nolan Ryan – 1989 – 5th place
Jeff Russell – 1989 – 9th place
Kevin Brown – 1992 – 6th place
Ken Hill – 1996 – 6th place
Aaron Sele – 1999 – 5th place
John Wetteland – 1999 – 6th place
