Can we get Rangers stats minus June?

Since we can’t use June stats to see how good this team is.

By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

No, obviously you should only put up June stats

against the Houstons, Pittshburghs, and Milwaukees,, because how the Rangers play versus the dregs of the NL is the true measure of this team.

We know how good the team is

7th best in the AL in Runs Allowed, and 5th best in the AL in Runs scored.

Good enough to make the playoffs as long as they are in a crap division.

I just realized that in only 19 games and 66 PA, Jorge Cantu has been worth -0.4 WAR as a Ranger

He’s almost cost the team half a win in 19 piddly games.

Holy shit.

by LSJ on Sep 7, 2010 11:18 AM CDT reply actions

Wait, wait

I read it wrong, that’s his season number.

-.06 WAR as Ranger.

Worse than Joaquin Arias, Bengie Molina and Taylor Teagarden combined.

HOLY SHIT.

yea he's been awful

I can’t believe how bad he’s been……I liked the move at the time

by shock00 on Sep 7, 2010 11:20 AM CDT up reply actions

Guzman has been -.4 as a Ranger as well

but in only 13 games and 45 PA. Boom.

That's an entire win between the two of them

Good grief.

At least all they cost was superfluous depth guys.

I misread it the first time, Cantu has been worth -0.6 WAR as a Ranger, not just -0.4.

I guess nobody read my addendum right below the original comment.

No you said -.06 in the addendum

Which is it?? Big difference between -.06 and -.6… He has been bad though.

my better is better than your better.

I put the decimal in the wrong place.

Figured that would be obvious.

Not really

I wouldn’t assume he had a positive WAR for the Marlins

by octoberty on Sep 8, 2010 7:30 AM CDT up reply actions

I honestly

didn’t know how good of a season Nellie is having AGAIN!
one other thing that stuck out to me is Tea is OPSing almost 50 points higher than Molina
I didn’t have any confidence in Molina doing anything more than an infield pop up, but dang he’s been bad at the plate

by blueballlefty on Sep 7, 2010 11:34 AM CDT reply actions

Depressing.

Cantu, Molina, Guzman. They’ve been excellent pennant run additions. Just excellent.

Yep

most of the other players, including fast ones like Andrus and Borbon, should have stop signs up as the default. Guerrero having more CS than SB is fairly impressive.

Even if this great slump continue, we can pull some great Rocktober-esque winning streak near the end of the season, when it matters most.

any chance

there is a stats for Run Support Per Start? Or is that type of stat not kept?

by Eric Prince on Sep 7, 2010 12:26 PM CDT reply actions

yes

B-R has that kind of thing.

Runs per start:

but:
Feldman: 5.3
Harden: 4.4
Harrison: 5.9
Holland: 5.1
Hunter: 6.4
Lee: 3.9
Lewis: 3.6
Wilson: 4.8

note, that those are Lees numbers only for the Rangers.

Eenteresting tidbit from Mr. Lucas:
The Austin American-Statesman has a lengthy article about the impending switch in affiliations from Houston to Texas: kitchen sinky. Interestingly, the author indicates that Houston will relocate Nashville, while Milwaukee will partner with the Oklahoma City Redhawks.

Many in the article clearly dislike how the Astros have been feeding RR…I wonder if OKC is a step up for MIL? If not, why are they exiting Nashville?

not sure why I don’t recall that. I moved out of that area again in 2002, but never recall the Ports being affiliated with the Rangers. I guess that shows how closely I followed the minors at that time.

The Rangers may be limping, but they are still the pimps of the AL West.
