Feliz recently has proven one thing to me
There is no way he isn’t getting a shot at the rotation within the next few years. Maybe it doesn’t happen next year, but the secondary pitches are there.
By 2028, Mark Teixeira will be in the HOF.

It was pretty clearly in the strike zone
on the pitch tracker at least. Not straight in the middle of the plate, but a no doubt about it high strike. And of course, that came right after he was seeing high 90s heat on a few pitches.

Eh. I enjoyed going to see them there
Our hotel was literally right behind the ballpark – we walked out the back door and there was the outfield fence.
The team moving to Round Rock is just a new excuse for a road trip. This year we did OKC → Kansas City → St. Louis, I’m thinking Round Rock → San Antonio → Houston next year.

but we only had the long weekend plus one day, and the schedule worked out. Eventually we’ll do a west coast road trip, but that’ll involve more planning. This was kind of a spur of the moment thing.

It sucked that it was the only game I had at the time (I got the GameCube whole sale three weeks before US release through a friend), and I beat it on the first day.
But then I kept playing it and kept enjoying it. . .
But Melee and Prime were easily both in my top 10 at one point. I can still only think of 1-3 games I enjoyed more than Metroid Prime on first play through.

I used Ganondorf alot, and he was almost the same character, just a little tougher and a little slower.
And I could own faces with Marth. Eventually no one would play me if I used either of those two.
by Arson55 on Sep 9, 2010 9:08 PM CDT up reply actions 1 recs
Actually. . .
. . . looks like he’s currently #2, right behind Fox on the same tier.
Also, clearly my friends and I play Brawl wrong since Zelda is banned from being played too often, yet she’s bottom tier. I’m guessing a pro could kill someone spamming Din’s Fire.
Though that's based on head-to-head.
I’m much, much, much better with Toon Link H2H. I rule with Zelda because of dominating distracted players in a four player brawl.
How is Ness so low?
Or Game & Watch? They were two of my favorites. Ness was the only other one I used nearly as much as Marth.
Because they don't do very well in competetive play.
Their moves and movements aren’t very good at the highest level of H2H.
Playing at home with friends is a completely different thing. Especially if you play free-for-alls with items on broken stages. It’s also much, much more fun, I have no interest in becoming a competitive Smasher.
But when you get to money-winning tournaments, you get to an insane level of player. Are you familiar with Wave Dashing?
I guess all that's true.
But damn, I almost never lost a head to head with Ness. Of course, I was just better than my friends.
And no. I don’t think so.
Don't know if you can tell in this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cw3zaC_YQI&feature=related
It’s a slightly complicated use of the buttons that allows you to glide along the stage and recover quickly. Essentially, move around really fast.
It’s essential to playing at a high level in Melee, and different characters can wave dash better than others.
Competitive Melee play gets intense. . .
And silly me for not thinking of competitive Smash Bros.
Given that I watch pro level Starcraft it shouldn’t be such a strange concept. I guess. It just doesn’t seem like a well balanced game for it.
How does that look?

It can be interesting to watch if you're a huge nerd.
Some games are of course more interesting than others.
I entered
this competition not because I am good at StarCraft, but I am good at writing software. Yes I’m a fuckin nerd. Check out Team Liquid’s page if you want to see the real pros.

I watch a lot of casts of pro level players.
I want to see more of TLO. I haven’t seen him in anything lately.
It seems weird as a Protoss player for a Terran player to be my favorite, but whatever.
It sucks that I missed the live casts of the MLG tournament. HuK is a pimp also. And, you know, he plays the right race.
i enjoyed my time
with the game cube. most my friends preferred the ps2 though (and xbox) so i eventually got a ps2, still have that and play it from time to time. pretty good sports games

He's good. At times very good.
But he shouldn’t be considered one of the all time greats. The only reason he has so many records is because he never missed games.
People say the same about Emmitt
He only had so many yards because he played so long… I don’t really buy it. Favre was truly great for a lot of years, and the fact that he’s 41 and still playing at such a high level, I think, attests to his greatness.

Well, he did have so many yards in large part because he played so long so well.
Playing so long and so well is really great.
One of Emmitt’s greatest skills was his ability to move just right to avoid getting squared up.
And that kind of staying power is amazing.
But it’s not the same thing as being a great player. Favre makes way too many stupid decisions to be a great quarterback. Way, way too many. Emmitt didn’t have that problem.
They played two different positions, so Favre was exposed to making different kinds of mistakes.
I don’t disagree his gambles and interceptions have killed his team at times – they have. But he’s won a hell of a lot more than he’s lost (181-104) and so did Emmitt.

'Waiting for a girl and she gets me into fights
Waiting for a girl we get drunk on Friday night'
Nope, I think he's overrated by a lot of the more casual football fans.
But I still put him with the greats.
I just hate that he makes so many stupid decisions in game and virtually always gets a pass for them.
Oh, no doubt.
Remember when he stepped over the line, knowingly, and then just chucked a pass anyway when his team was on the goal line?
He laughed. Everyone laughed along with him. It was like Vlad getting thrown out at third. “He’s just having fun out there!!!”
Anyone else gets (rightfully) butchered.
He has the protection of Ed Werder and ESPN.

Not that Elvis isn't having a solid season, and his this offense coupled with where his defensive talent probably goes beyond solid.
Solid just shouldn’t be 4th place in a position.
If only he was 27

Don't get me wrong, I love, love, love Elvis this season.
Less than I thought I was going to in May, but whatever. A shortstop capable of this plate discipline like this who I’m pretty sure is more likely to be plussy plus defensively than he has been this year at such a young age is a great thing. He’s already reached the level of production over his two years in the Majors that it was going to take for me to be fine with his prime (I hoped for more, but I only expected above average).
Man, I didn't realize he'd dropped to a negative in UZR this season.
Geez.

It's reminding me of Ian's 2008 watching him.
You see this dude with all this rangey talent, and you know he’ll probably be better in future seasons.
But the mental lapses are maddening this season.
Elvis and offense...
I wonder how his numbers would look if he batted at the bottom of the order. I think he would see better pitches to hit if he batted lower.
Why would he see better pitches down there, rather than at the top, where pitchers don't want to put him on in front of the heart of the order?

Yeah, pitchers have to have simply realized he has no power or ability to pull right now
I wouldn’t really expect moving him to 9th would change the scouting report on him.

What's frustrating is we already know he's capable of much better, because he was legit awesome last year.
Ian up to that point had always had issues with his D, but Elvis has regressed bigtime from where he was his rookie season, and he hasn’t at least correlated it with an increase in offense, either.
Not saying I’m down on him going forward, but I’m starting to realize his 2010 has been a bit of a disappointment.

Kind of weird that his DPR is where the big negative is for his UZR
Might have something to do with Kinsler being out for a lot of the season and having less than stellar 1B to throw to as well.
That’s not to say he isn’t to blame a bit, but its kind of hard watching him play like we have and seeing any way that he could possible be a negative on defense.

Could be.
There is little doubt in my mind he’s a good-to-great fielder going forward. There is some doubt in my mind that he has been quite as bad as UZR says, but he hasn’t seemed that good for watching him. A whole lot of mistakes. Not something I expect to continue, but I certainly wouldn’t doubt anyone telling me he’s been average to barely above average.
Didn't they say the same thing
about Jose Reyes in his 2nd year?

Point being
Reyes overcame the mental mistakes and has gone on to become a pretty neato SS.

mental lapses
seem to be a Rangers trademark.

That's funny
that he is 14th overall, but 4th in the AL :)
It’s funny that Andrus is positive despite being negative Batting and Fielding.

So I was browsing USS Mariner and LOL
curious if there was any stuff on the whole Zoinks debacle when I came across this hilarious post:
Lonely White People really like the Red Sox. The conclusion from this post is absolutely hilarious.
On a side note, its kind of interesting/funny/strange how those 2 sites have no front page news about Jack Z. Even we had a front page post about it here, albeit just a fanshot.

if any reader had posted anything they'd have probably been banned
as Matthew has already said he doesn’t think anyone should talk about Lueke.
Go Rice Owls!
Just a couple of things...
With their win tonight the Houston Astros are 67-73. Anyone want to take a guess at the Halos record? That’s right, 67-73. Ahahahaha.
Also, I want Buster Posey to be a Texas Ranger.
That is all.

The more I look at it, the more I think the Rangers should be winning 2/3 this next series.
At least. The pitching matchups just favor Texas so much.
Now it’s time to run the simulation and see if it agrees. . .
with our luck
the yankees will still figure out a way to take 2 of 3 and fuck us in the ass

Such a good episode from a great show
Any opinions on the new season? After two bad episodes (Attack of the Killer App In-A-Gadda-Da-Leela), the season has been money. The Duh-Vinci Code, A Clockwork Origin, and Lethal Inspection are probably in my top 10 Futurama list.
