OT-Classical music

So, I was doing some digging through the recordings I have on my computer, and I discovered a recording of Appalachian Spring by the Pacific Symphony Orchestra (that I'd forgotten I had). Specifically, it was a recording of the original ballet suite by Copland (as opposed to his later, orchestral version).

This got me thinking...with as much discussion of more recent, more "pop"-ish (rock, alt, etc.) music as we have on here (hello, Rolling Stones), what are our collective thoughts on classical music? What are your preferences in style? Who are your favorite composers? Favorite pieces, and perhaps favorite recordings of those pieces?
