I know that it is likely he will return to St. Louis if they can come up with the cash, but here is what I think would be a reasonable Rangers overture.
6 years, $180 million. Basically use the money budgeted (and advanced from TV deal) for Cliff Lee and give it to Albert.
2012, $35 mil; 2013, $33 mil; 2014, $31 mil; 2015, $29 mil; 2016, $27 mil and 2017, $25 million.
It wouldn't hamstring the finances of the team later in the contract, leaving you some flexibility if there is mutual interest to stay.
Thoughts... and please remember this is IF he is available, not a debate of if we should sign him.
