Joe Sheehan on Hall of Fame voters & the steroid issue
Steroid talk usually gives me tired head. But this seems timely, given that we'll hear today about Raffy and McGwire being left out of the HOF Class of 2011.
I don't agree with all of what Sheehan says in the post (it's a free preview for his newsletter), but I think he makes some excellent points.

And Bonds. And Clemens.
And I don’t have a problem with that. Those are 3 of the all-time greats.
I know there’s no sympathy for McGwire, I understand that. But his timing sucked. He was the first of the “steroid era” superstars to become eligible, so they’ve chosen to make an example out of him.
And the Bagwell thing is a joke. He should be in on the first ballot.
"Whenever I'm about to do something, I think 'Would an idiot do that?' And if they would, I do not do that thing."
amen
Bagwell thing is a joke. He should be in on the first ballot.
c’mon, unless he started using in 1991, he was a great hitter before he allegedly possibly started maybe juicing (like bonds).
gary sheffield won’t get any love either :*(
