Guillermo Moscoso designated for assignment
To make room for Adrian Beltre on their active roster, the Rangers have designated righthanded pitcher Guillermo Moscoso for assignment.
This move was not really unexpected...with Max Ramirez and Clay Rapada designated earlier in the week, Moscoso was the most obvious guy on the 40 man roster to be dropped.
Moscoso came over to the Rangers with Carlos Melo as part of the Gerald Laird trade, and although he had success in the minors and has pretty good stuff, he was never able to translate that to the majors.
He's someone I expect would be claimed, so I am thinking the Rangers are going to try to work out a deal to trade him, rather than lose him for nothing.

Not that surprising
I assumed he was gonna be gone instead of Rapada earlier, but the 3 who ended up going, Moscoso, Ramirez, and Rapada were the obvious 3.
I guess this is the 40pocalypse we were warned about.

I'll admit that I am mildly concerned about losing some depth...
but then when you actually look at the actual people that are getting the boot, it’s not a big deal.

Decent end of the bullpen arm
With a little bit of potential. Maybe you get a decent low A player with a little something for him.
What do voluntary mean?

Moscoso for Josh Johnson
who says no?

God is constantly
in rebuilding mode. One title in 2,000 years, it’s no wonder the fan base is restless and belligerent.

Oh this made me laugh.

She was overrated
small sample in a short series. And sending her to Orleans was like starting David Clyde in the majors. Short term success followed by flameout.

The whole "Babylonian Exile" period didn't help things, either.
It’s like having to play in Oakland.

Roster
Outside of guys you wouldn’t consider optioning (e.g., Cruz, Murphy), everyone left on the 40-roster has at least two options remaining, I believe.
That’s helpful for managing the roster and dealing with day-to-day injury situations, although it would be nice to have a middle infielder in AAA on the 40-man roster.
MIF on AAA squad...
Arias will do, right?

I just looked on Wiki to see the Rangers 40 man roster
and wish I knew how to copy the screen shot and paste it on here. It says:
Designated Hitters: Micheal Young.
"I don't really like pitchers." - Nelson Cruz
Where is Arias now?
I didn’t think we had resigned him after the rolays released him.

And what did we learn from this?
Having a 1.064 BABIP will get your ass DFA’d.

FanGraphs
uses a weird formula to calculate BABIP. It’s not exact, obviously. I don’t know why they still do it.
heh
I’m starting to think
that ole (Luke) Frenchy may be more of a 2 or 3 guy. I’d take him behind Moscoso in my rotation.
Not quite as hefty as I originally thought, but a really nice haul for the Rays.
More than Garza’s worth, to be sure.

Dang...
I love this trade for Tampa Bay. They got more for Garza than Kansas City did for Zack Greinke, although their package of players is, collectively, further away than what the Royals got.
Have I ever mentioned KLaw has my favorite online mugshot of all time?

This is just everything an online bio picture should be. Nutshell.

Pitchers
So what are the possible trade targets at pitcher left? free agents?
I know in the past we have Fausto Carmona, Scott Shields in trades…..who else….
Jeff Francis through free agency
I would like the Rangers to add Jon Rausch on a similar deal as Arthur Rhodes got…then give some flexibility with Neftali Feliz a chance to be either a closer or starter!!!!
We already have Fausto Carmona.
He goes by Scott Feldman in these parts.

This is the right answer.
I think he’ll be available.

No idea
mlbtraderumors mentions it, with no prospects mentioned. This doesn’t really propose anything either:

He is entering his last year of team control though, and I’ve read that Nolan likes him.
