Happy birthday to Michael Tejera, who turns 35 today.
Tejera was one of the legion of random replacement level pitchers who floated through Arlington in the early- and mid-aughts, a lefthander who the Marlins drafted in the 6th round in 1995, and who the Rangers claimed off of waivers in September of 2004.
Tejera allowed 6 runs in 5 1/3 innings that September for the Rangers. Undaunted, the Rangers kept him around, and he pitched 2 more innings in 2005, allowing 3 runs. Amazingly, there are six pitchers in Rangers history who have an ERA (in at least 5 innings) with the team higher than Tejera's 11.05. Not amazingly, five of those six pitches in the early- to mid-aughts.
