The last round of World Cup qualifying is pretty cool.
It’s always interesting to see what happens when they go down to Central America
those venues seem downright scary
and when’s the last time the USMNT played in Dallas? they almost only play in the midwest/northeast unless they make a trip to LA.

They played at Pizza Hut Park when it first opened I believe.
I know they had Gold Cup games at Cowboys Stadium but IDK if USA was in that pod of games.

In August, I cannot imagine getting as zeroed in on football season as I am on baseball season, but October changes things (until the Cowboys diarrhea in their pants and the Rangers are in the postseason)

I really, really wanted the Mavs to win this past spring but so much of that had
to do with how I felt / feel about Dirk.
I was pretty fucking big on the Dallas Stars their first 10 years (season ticket holder) they were here but then came the move from Reunion, the strike, Cocksucker Tom Hicks and mediocrity….I haven’t been to a Dallas Stars game in three years.

Went to the Stars alumni game last night in Frisco
pretty cool seeing the old guys mixed in with the current guys in a game…. Hull with his big arse… and the Ken Hithcock show was there!
I went to 4-5 games last season
hockey is still awesome to watch live, no matter how the Stars are doing.

thats kind of what i mean by doing the mavs/stars/rangers thing.
they all mean about the same to me, and all get around the same kind of treatment over the course of their seasons.
that being said, it was really tough for me to have to miss the bama-florida game while at the rangers game. but both won, so that was nice.

Cowboys would be higher than Mavs, but I am fed up with Jerry and find a lot of Cowboy fans to be a beating, especially since many of them also root for the Yankees/Sox and Lakers/Celtics.

But I understand. I love the Mavs and Stars. I watch most of the games and read recaps, but That’s where the seasonal thing comes in. I follow Rangers, Cowboys, and UNT year-round… those other teams (which I love) are seasonal obsessions.

he certainly isn’t the best, but he isn’t the worst. He is near the top of the class of QBs outside of the top tier (Brady, Rodgers, Peyton when healthy, etc). Would you rather have Colt McCoy quarterbacking your team?

I’m not going to say the Refs gave the game to SMU, but that was, without a doubt, the worst reffed game I’ve seen at Amon Carter, ever.
The back judge calls 2 separate PI’s on plays where he was 20+ yards from the play, AND tried to not throw a flag for delay of game when the SMU punt returner tried to take off after calling fair catch.
That crew had serious clown shoes on. Horrible.

And those PIs were not PI in any football game I've ever seen in my life. Just terrible.
One of those cost us an INT. Don’t remember how the other one ended up, but I’m pretty sure it kept a drive going that ended in a TD.

Yep.
The first one cost us an INT, and within 2-3 plays, SMU scored a TD. The other one ended up with a SMU FG, if I remember correctly.
An aside, the only funny part about SMU rushing our field is hearing from a TCU cop that the first SMU kid to jump the railing broke his ribs on the way down. I don’t normally smile at stuff like that, but after dealing with the SMU folks in front of us for the game, fuck them.

If there’s order to it, then that’s alright with me. When everyone rushed TCU’s field after Utah and New Mexico (clinching MW title, not beating New Mexico, lol) in 09, the admins sent out an email telling students to file to the two stairwells by the student section and to avoid the other teams players at all costs.
I remember that kid at Mizzou getting punched the hell out by the Nebraska player a few years ago.

because they’re still perceived as a Top 25 team.
As it is, we’re one of the few major undefeated teams out of the Top 25.
A Tech win over A&M puts us around 20 and a win over KState would move us up to 15 or so.

I don't know what to make of the Kansas game...we played
like shit but still won 45-34. We had a td called back and we were also knocking on the door at the end of the game but Kansas also skulled a couple of red zone chances.

TJ, I don't know what we are just yet and Tuberville is on probation with me.
Our defense is not good but we do have a ton of young skill players.
That said, you know how we get it up to play A&M no matter the venue but especially in Lubbock. The game will be at night so the crowd will be properly lubricated. We’re a home dog and have almost always played above our ability in these situations. A&M is in full crisis mode and can’t be dripping with confidence.
Most importantly, Taylor Potts won’t be on the field.
I understand the hesitation but I really like our chances.

to bent over the kitchen sink in Norman but Sherman is a fucking idiot (purple muu muu anybody?) and his team is in full crisis mode right now.
The Gaggies (I love that they’ve been glossed with that new name by the interwebs) spilled the bucket the last two weekends and had very poor results. Tech cannot be cocky after barely escaping Nevada and playing so poorly against Kansas.
I think we’re teed up to play very well this Saturday.

It's a young team with growing pains.
The offensive talent we have is amazing especially when you realize how young this team is.
A lot of things bothered me about Saturday but nothing more than the what, 17-18 penalties.
Tuberville is still on probation with me. Yes, he was a first year coach facing a major, major culture switch but last year’s team should have won 10 games and choosing Potts over Sheffield was inexcusable.

Tubbs taking over this team and not completely rehauling it was the mistake.
He was put in a bad spot. If he re-vamped everything and they didn’t have a good season last year (or this year) he would be blamed for screwing up a good thing that Leach had in place.
If he keeps things the way they are, pass happy, then he is running a show that he is not very comfortable with. He was not the man to take over this school’s football team.
There needed to be either a sacrificial lamb coach, which would go away from the “Air-Raid” offense to setup the real coach, or there needed to be someone brought in to continue with the Leach offensive theme.
All this was brought on by the handling of the football program by the BoR. The entire episode has me embarrassed to be associated with Tech.

I think the level of administrative hatred is greater in the Big XII than others
Ohio St and Michigan athletics hate the hell out of each other, for sure. But I’m not sure their administrations actually care about the rivalry, unlike A&M’s apparently does.

I have a friend who went to Ohio State and they all root for
each other in post-season play to do well.

That's kinda the point.
You have four schools in Texas that play each other in everything, recruit against each other constantly, and jockey for position in conference standings that are sometimes based solely on how the other teams in that state perform. It leads to a situation where what is often in my best interest as a fan of another Texas school is to see your Texas school fail.

The Tech AD says the OU guy was practically his mentor
and I’m sure the Tech chancellor has a ton of ties at UT, mostly due his political aspirations. So i’m positive they don’t hate each other. I’m more concerned that the alignments between the guys in charge are more based on their own agendas, rather the betterment of the Big 12-2-1 through each others contributions and sacrifices

I think equal revenue sharing can seriously affect that.
In an equal system where all schools get the same amount of money, it is in the best interest of all schools for all schools to do well. The better bowl Tech goes to, the more money Baylor makes and vice versa. In that situation, I might root for Tech to do well, Josey aside, when they’re not playing Baylor.

There’s a statue on the campus of Will Rogers and the horse’s ass was positioned towards College Station – that says it all.
With Texas, it’s different because we seem to get along with them off the field and we don’t have issues about them casting a shadow over the state.
It’s a great school, a national program…the true big dog in the area with money, tradition and carte blanch to do whatever the fuck they need to do to get recruits…that’s just the way it is so why worry about it?

I think they've decided that as long as you email the pics to the prop & evidence department, you're cool
most of the time I’d wait for the real camera, but there are times when it’s hard to wait (I was working a self inficted gsw to the head but still alive once…we weren’t sure at first if it was attempted suicide or an attempted murder, so we wanted pics, but EMS selfishly wanted to cart him away before the camera got there, so we took a shitload of terrible cell phone pics…turns out we didn’t really need them. That’s a case where I would want a decent cell phone camera just in case

I was just thinking about the logistics of digital photography in general being used as evidence.
Memory cards, copied files…the chain of evidence on those has to have extremely tight controls, right?

Nearly everyone says “Ranges, Mavs, Cowboys”. Some people say Stars, some even added their college to the list.

I'm not going to say that with certainty
But someone most likely photoshopped this to paint the picture that the streets were filled with folks protesting Wall Street. Whether that’s the work of one random person or other higher ups, I can’t say.

but by STARTLING COINCIDENCE their overhead image, from exactly the same satellite that took the one Google Maps uses, captured exactly the same cars on the streets/parking lots in exactly the same positions as whenever the Google Maps one was taken. Spooky!

At the risk of sounding like a hipster, I’m not sure there’s a more ferocious bass line in existence than the one that kicks in about halfway through Russian Circles’ “Geneva.”
Also, being in a new office after nearly 10 years in the previous one is weird. Same company, same co-workers, same shit on my desk, but nearly everything else has changed. It’s surreal.

Dogs
Is anyone elses dog absolutely terrified of having their nails cut? My dog was looking pretty raggedy so I gave him a bath cut his nails and all that and its quite an ordeal. He tries to run away when he hears bath water and shivers/looks miserable during it, he shivers and pulls his feet away constantly when I try to clip his nails, he sheds half his fur from the supposed stress…
Makes me wonder if someone did it wrong and cut his toes once or something.
Hes also scared of rain and has to sit in my lap panting the entire time its raining.
Still a great dog though.

Yeah Ive taken him with me to a petco a few times and let them cut his nails to avoid it
But now they refuse to do it if the rabies vaccination is out of date.
Which Ill get for him when I see another free vaccination weekend, Im not paying the premium for that for a dog who is inside 99% of the time and on a leash 5 feet from me the rest.
