Five years ago today, we talked about a T.R. Sullivan article where Jon Daniels discussed the recent signing of Frank Catalanotto, who was coming back to Texas to be a COF/DH, and where there was talk about free agent pitchers the Rangers were looking at (Miguel Batista and Randy Wolf feature prominently) and Nelson Cruz possibly playing centerfield for Texas in 2007.

There was also a whole boatload of discussion in the comments.

I wouldn't be surprised

if Cruz could play a better CF than Wilkerson in 2007, not that that’s saying a ton. He struck me as a pretty athletic guy in the OF in the short time of getting to see him.
