Venezuela Winter League suspends Torrealba for 66 games
Via Jason Cole, the Venezuela Winter League has suspended Yorvit Torrealba for 66 games -- in other words, the rest of this season and all next season -- for hitting an umpire on Friday.
Torrealba, under contract with the Rangers for the 2012 season, is expected to split time at catcher with Mike Napoli this coming year.
The organization has said that they are gathering information about this incident, but there's no indication at this point that Torrealba will be suspended or otherwise punished for this incident by the Rangers or MLB.

Trying to decide
if I’d rather get Torrealba’d or Robbie Alomar’d as an umpire.

Well Torrealba doesn't have AIDS.
So he’s got that going for him.

I was considering a paid subscription this offseason. Does anyone have any recommendations? Baseball America? ESPN Insider? Etc. PS. I don’t care about other sports, just MLB baseball. Thanks.

If you like prospect coverage
draft coverage, HS and College baseball, tournies, summer ball, go with BA
and Badler's
j2 and international FA coverage
Very much worth it.

Does MLB have any official working relationship with the Venezuelan league?
I’ve just had a bad feeling about this one since it happened
Well, you know that MLB umpires are going to be aware of it.
I’m sure the strike zone when Yorvit is up just grew a few inches on each side.
More concerned when he's catching than batting
“Frame it all you want, asshole. Not getting it.” I don’t think it would actually happen.
Football can go to hell. The Rangers aren't ready for football season and neither am I.

Those lazy bastards
are not paying attention to what is happening in a winter league game in Venezuela
Josey Wales: "And if you think intangibles really do exist, how in the F could you vote Ellsbury as the MVP?"
Adam J. Morris: "If it weren’t for my horse, I wouldn’t have spent that year in college."
Has there ever been an incident like this before?
I am wondering if some sort of precedent had already been set in which a winter league incident resulted in a MLB player getting an MLB suspension.
I don’t think it will happen, but you never now…

Oh man what was in his head? lol. This guy is going to miss out the rest of the season and the whole new season damn! I hope he doesn’t get broke. I’ve read a book “From athletes to Business” and I learned about the behaviours of these athletes. I hope he get back again soon.
