If you're unfamiliar... Enterprise City is a mock city run by the RISD that students can go to and have jobs and such.
Every student gets a job and a wage and places to spend money... and those places are of course run by other students.
I went in 5th grade back in '89 and really enjoyed the experience. It also taught me a very valuable lesson regarding birds, hands and bushes.
All the jobs were filled by the teachers selecting students for positions. They asked you to pick the three jobs that you wanted as a guideline... but ultimately the teachers decided who they wanted where.
Except for two jobs... Mayor and Judge. Both of those positions were entirely based on an election by the students.
The highest paid position was for Bank President, and being the smart young lad I was, that was the job I really wanted. I also put down Judge and some third job I don't remember.
The elections were held before the other jobs were filled. The Judge position (tied with Mayor as the second highest paying job) came down to a tie with myself and another person. We had a run off that I lost by one vote, and I voted for the other person. I didn't want to eliminate myself from contention for Bank President.
Well... unfortunately for me, I didn't get the Bank President job... that went to my best friend. They made me a Bank Supervisor, which paid well... but not as well as the Judge. Lesson learned.
