Okay guys I guess it's about time I make my post here. First of all I want to apologize for not answering any of your posts, emails, Facebook messages, tweets and phone calls. I know I told you I would always respond within a few minutes but I didn't want to talk to anybody until we released our official statement.
I would like to address some of the comments that you guys have made over the past 24 hours. First of all, I've read every single one of your comments on all of the different Chuck posts (and we know there were a ton) so forgive me if I don't hit all of the points.
I found out about Chuck's resignation just like a lot of you last night... Right before I was going to bed I got an email with the Star-Telegram article attached and immediately went to my computer to read it. I hadn't heard a thing about it so needless to say I was in shock like most of you. As I sat there reading it, I turned on the tv and just so happened to catch the first tsunami wave hitting Japan. Not sure how much free time all of you have but if you added me on Facebook, like I know a lot of you have, you may have seen some of my pictures from Haiti. After the earthquake last January I spent a good bit of time down in the country and experienced some of the devastation first hand, so seeing those images really affected me. I knew I wasn't going to be able to sleep much so I decided around 2am to drive into the office. I sat there and watched these posts increase exponentially and like I said before, I read every one.
I know that a lot of you think that my introduction to you was scripted and just timed so this would be a smooth transition but I can assure you that it wasn't. I came to you guys on Wednesday because I thought it was the right time to explain who I am and what I do before the season started. I did that 100% completely on my own. Like you guys have repeatedly called me, I'm a “Greenberg guy” and part of that is being open and honest with the fans the way Chuck is. I was taught that when I first started my internship in Minor League Baseball with one of his teams, the Altoona Curve. I'm not going to change that style and I hope that we can continue this even though he is no longer with the organization. Being fan friendly is something that I will always strive for no matter who is in charge because that's just how I am as a person (corny I know, but it's true)
As far as my job goes, nothing will change. I am still in charge of all of our social media marketing efforts and still will hold the fan ambassador title as well. I know a lot of you thought I was on my way out or I wasn't responding because I was trying to get out of my lease to leave town (which I can't by the way). Social Media is something this organization needs to and will continue to embrace and I will be here to do that..even if it means entering the “Angrydome” on occasion. I will still mail the salsa bowls and fiesta platters, however due to today's events I won't mail them out until next week.
I really appreciate the emails some of you sent me asking if I was okay, and again, I apologize I couldn't respond to them but I have read them all. Please understand the position I was in and why I couldn't address the situation as it was unfolding. I know there are going to be a lot of comments and speculations on this post, just like there have been, but I'd prefer to not talk about the details of Chuck leaving and would ask that you guys respect that request from me. I've learned a lot from him over the past few years and I'm going to continue to do the absolute best I can for this organization because that's what I was brought here to do. Let's Go Rangers!
