CBS Sports on Jon Daniels' 3 best, worst GM moves
Another guy named Evan with a summary of JD's successes and failures. Expected stuff, except a shot at JD re: his perceived improper behind the scenes handling of The Face, and lukewarm rating of the Hamilton/Volquez trade.

Crazy
I thought it was Jovanny Cedeno we traded to Milwaukee, who is this Juan Cordero that is listed?

I believe it was Julian Cordero.
Jovanny Cedeno was released quite a while before the Milwaukee trade after never rebounding from a torn rotator cuff.

Yeah...
I have a problem with those rankings. Imho it should be :
1) The Andrus and Feliz deal
2) The Hamilton deal
3) The Cruz deal.
Honorable mention : The Murphy and Beltre deal.
On the down side I’d say :
1) The Adrian Gonzalez trade
2) The Alex Rodriguez trade
4) The Danks trade
Honorable mention : The MY contract.

Well
the ARod trade happened on Hart’s watch.

Ya know...
I’m not sure why I still think of that deal being done by JD, and obviously by the article, I’m not the only one. So yeah, scratch that off the list.
As to 3hacks comment below, I agree with you, I don’t fault JD for that deal. I thought it was a fairly even swap at the time as well. However you can argue with the results. That alone means that deal should be included imo. Win some, lose some. Kinda like the Lee deal where Nellie was just a throw in.

I don't fault JD for the talent swap of the Danks trade. It seemed reasonable at the time...
If you assume that the Rangers had a team ready to compete for the division. That was my problem at the time with the trade though – he overestimated the quality of the team in 2007. That, like the Agon trade, seemed to be a mistake of youthful inexperience or overeagerness.
Nothing is close to how bad the Agon trade was, but few GMs have, to quote Charlie Sheen, a bi-winning trade on their resume like the Andrus/Feliz/Harrison trade (I’m a Harrison believer.)
On the other hand
not all GMs have a bi-losing trade like AGon either. I think the there is a huge contrast between JD and Doug Melvin when he was here. Most of Melvin’s trades were fairly small trades without much of consequence attached. JD pulls out his big swinging dick and unloads huge make or break trades fairly frequently.

Holy shit
JD just got shat on by the commissioner from the Wire.

Who is this guy?
He says things that make me think he has a better handle on the Rangers than I expect from anyone who doesn’t aggressively follow them.
Stuff like this:
Meanwhile, David Murphy is one of the more valuable fourth outfielders in the game and would be a starter for many other teams.
That’s not something I expect to read from a national publication.

Even has a Peter Gammons quote re: his (defunct) blog. Still, a pretty impressive kid.
