Some Encouraging Items on this Turrible Day
"I like pitching with this lineup," Wilson told Rumblings. "And our defense is pretty good, so I like that, too. And that's a factor for me, because I want to win. The winning thing is more important than anything else -- and knowing I'm going to be in a good situation, because you have a choice. You have a choice of what you're going to factor your decision on. And for me, the ultimate thing is, 'Am I going to be a happy person?' I played for a team that wasn't winning for a long time, and now we're winning. So it's a lot easier to see a future here."
• Wilson reports he saw a recent quote from Roy Halladay (on ESPN.com, coincidentally enough) in which Halladay said, "To me, free agency was a chance to pick where you want to play, not a chance to see how much money you could get." And Wilson wants it on the record that he agrees with those sentiments "100 percent."
It's very possible this team is even better than the team that went to that World Series.
We've heard scouts say it. We've heard opposing managers say it. And in the Rangers' clubhouse, they firmly believe it.
Much more here.
Harumph!

Naw man the Rangers are full of unbelievable suck.
Remember to retire Fin's number, Mark.

Very cool
I was just saying to a friend of mine earlier that as much as it sucks to lose Josh for the next 6-8 weeks, this is a team that can withstand it. Our defense is great, the pitching has been very solid so far, and the offense has a load of depth and versatility.
If the Rangers can keep up this hot start without Hamilton, they’re going to bury the rest of the division.

The way I look at it
Josh is out for a few weeks each season. I’d rather it be April/May than September/October.

as much as I love Ceej
you gotta let him walk, reap the benefits of extra draft picks, and put Feliz in the rotation.
A baseball game is simply a nervous breakdown divided into nine innings.
If he has another year like last year
…he’s worth more than compensatory picks. I wouldn’t sign him to an extension right now or anything….I think you have to see two full seasons, and the price may be even higher then but I still think he’d be worth more than prospects if he has another good year.

Of course he's worth more than comp picks.
But he’s almost certainly not going to be worth Adrian Beltre’s contract and he’s probably going to get in that ballpark as the best starting pitcher by far on the market.

Problem is...
if he has another year like last year you’re looking at a 5 / 80-90 million dollar type deal, and that’s just too much.

Not sure it will be that much.
In any event, he’s from LA and I’d pay any amount of someone else’s money not to see him in an Angels uniform

I agree, love the guy
but it makes more sense to invest our money in our big time position players long term than resigning a middle aged pitcher who may begin to lose a lot of his effectiveness with age.

I hoped but did not expect Hamilton to make it through the season unscathed
I believe the team is well-equipped to weather his absence and will still win the division, but I hope Hamilton heals and comes back roaring for the 2nd half.
Nelson Cruz - 2011 MVP
The best thing I saw today was Pedro.
The quicker he settles into the setup role, the better I’ll feel.
