Darren O'Day to the disabled list
Per poster baseballismyboyfriend, Darren O'Day posted on his Facebook page that he is headed to the disabled list with a torn labrum in his left hip.
While this may help explain O'Day's struggles this year, it also puts the Texas Rangers in a tough spot as far as their bullpen goes, as we have one more reliever who will be unavailable for a while.
Presumably Ryan Tucker, who supposedly was going to be activated yesterday before the team decided not to make a move, will be brought back to replace O'Day on the 25 man roster.
That would mean that the Rangers' righthanded relievers right now would consist of:
Ryan Tucker
Pretty ugly collection of relievers right there. Neftali Feliz will, hopefully, be back in a week and a half, but other than that, there's no much help on the horizon, unless Tanner Scheppers gets healthy and gets things going. Scheppers is the guy the Rangers could really use right now.

Headed to the DL for a torn labrum in my left hip. Beyond that, I dont know much. Hopefully recovery will be quick, and I’ll be back on the mound in no time.
So...what's Scheppers injury again?
“weak back” or “weak legs” or something?
what does that even mean?

Tanner Scheppers has been placed back on Triple-A Round Rock’s disabled list due to more back troubles.
Scheppers was activated recently and made one appearance, but it’s clear he wasn’t ready. The back ailment dates back to the beginning of spring training. He has a shot to help out the big league bullpen at some point this season, but he’ll have to get healthy first. Apr 17, 3:36 PM

Talked about this issue. Colby is the prime candidate right now, it seems.

How long are
we looking at O’Day being out? Wasn’t ARod out several week *8 or so) from having this same injury surgically repaired?
Please don't use ARod as an example.

I wouldn't count on it being a short DL stint
It’s likely to be a few weeks, minimum.

Now?
Can we panic now? This is just getting to be too much.
Get to work, JD.

Didn’t O’Day just say in the last day or so that he was “ready to go”?

Aardsma wil have missed about 4 months after his Dec oth surgery before his likely return next week. So see you in September o’day (if he has the surgery, which seems like a must, but hasn’t been announced yet that i can find…)
Believe he is seeing a specialist today

O'day might be the first pitcher
to have a nice career pitching with a torn labrum in both his hip and his shoulder without having surgery (yet).
That would be O'day
spitting in Keith Law’s face, a proxy spit in a way, lampooning his propensity to spew unqualified medical opinions about prospects, particularly with regard to Scheppers and Loux. As a team with two live wires in the system (and one convert one in O’day), that is to say, “ticking time bombs”, all I can say is…duck and cover.

I didn't know the labia are in the shoulder.

Just sayin….

Good point... My mistake.
Isn’t there a labrum in the shoulder too? I’m obviously not very good with anatomy. And it would still be off topic. And it wasn’t very funny anyway.

I remember now. It was funnier when he said it. Of course, he is a comedian.

It was not that long ago that
we had TOO many RH relief options. Trade FF, Ogando to the Roto, Injuries to Feliz, O’Day, Tobin and now the word panic is getting thrown out there.
Baseball is a long season during which many things happen. It is just time for the vets (Bush and Tomko) to absorb some of the impact, and the young (Strop, Eppley etc) to step up and fill the open rolls. It may not be a beautiful work of art but we can get through this difficulty and be better for it.
You can only be young once but can be immature forever!
Well, shit
Don't play F A G! Do not play F A G! Don't- (BLAST F). OH MY GOD WHAT ARE YOU (BLAST A) DOING?! I SAID NOT TO (BLAST G)!
Would a team
be open to trading a vet reliever to us this early in the season or would they be afraid that that would interpreted by their fans as they’re giving up on the season already?

Bush sucks??? Really?
Go check his career numbers, or even his last couple of years. His stats basically scream #5 starter, whihc isn’t exactly tehsuck to me.

If we had a healthy bullpen then I wouldn't mind having Bush as the longman...
but with the injuries means he’s going to get higher leveraged situations…which I have a problem with.

Nope... we're in agreement..
I hadn’t thought much about Bush getting any higher-leverage situations. I was dismissing the notion he sucks in abstract terms, not in terms of a high-leverage role.
If he pitches to his record, he’ll be the best (least worst?) long man we’ve had in a while.
