OT: Fresno St. hires Texas men's BB assistant... is he any good?
So Fresno State hired Texas men's basketball assistant Rodney Terry for its vacant coaching position after Steve Cleveland was "reassigned." Link to the story is here.
The main question I have is... is he any good? I figured some people here might follow Longhorns men's basketball more closely than I do. He was also an assistant coach at Baylor in the past. Does anyone know what he was actually responsible for at Texas/Baylor and if he was any good at that?
I'm just wanting to know what we Fresno State fans should expect from this guy. He's never been a head coach in NCAA basketball.

I know he's been instrumental
In a lot of the recruiting success. But as far as X’s and O’s and game management, I think that’s anyone’s guess.
I am surprised that it’s taken him this long to get a head coaching gig. I remember 2-3 years ago he was rumored to be headed to Rice.
Lord have mercy on my rough and rowdy ways.
he is the main recruiter for the 4 guys from canada texas has right now fwiw
Scout: He was a first-round pick right? Got a huge bonus?
KG: Oh yeah.
Scout: Well, he spent a lot of it on milkshakes.
Is Canada a hotbed of talent?
I guess getting Canadians to Fresno would be nice, but I’m not sure how readily available maple syrup is. The Fresno Falcons hockey team there folded, though, so there’s that problem.
Two of the main pieces on UT's team this year, starting guard Corey Joseph and starting center Tristan Thompson, are from Canada.

Well he recruits them through Findlay Prep
in Nevada (specifically the Vegas area I think). I believe that school is close to folding due to lack of funding. It is basically a HS training camp for hotshot basketball players.

Don't know a ton but it is the top story at BON right now...
