Wednesday a.m. Rangers things

PHOENIX, AZ - JULY 12: (L-R) American League All-Star Josh Hamilton #32 of the Texas Rangers stands with American League All-Star Adrian Beltre #29 of the Texas Rangers and American League All-Star David Ortiz #34 of the Boston Red Sox before the start of the 82nd MLB All-Star Game at Chase Field on July 12, 2011 in Phoenix, Arizona. I didn't watch the All Star Game last night.  I see the A.L. lost, though.

T.R. Sullivan's game story looks at the performances of the Ranger all stars.

Richard Durrett writes about Michael Young's seventh all star appearance.

The New York Mets have sent Francisco Rodriguez and cash to the Milwaukee Brewers for two players to be named later.  K-Rod was a guy the Rangers supposedly had at least some interest in.  Until we know how much cash and who the players are, there's no way to evaluate this deal.  We do know, though, that K-Rod won't be a Ranger, and Jon Daniels will have to look elsewhere for relief help.

In the aftermath of the Spokane/Vancouver brawl, suspensions have been handed down, with Matt West being suspended six games, Roughned Odor four games, and pitchers Jose Menegro and Santo Perez each getting three games.

The S-T's notes talk about potential rule changes and Tommy Hunter's reputation as a workhorse.
