The Mexican Wave?
The Rangers and their wave-fighting is getting global press. The Guardian, a well-known newspaper from the UK, has an article about the wave, with quotes from Chuck Morgan (it refers to him as the club's announcer).
What I found really interesting, though, was the name -- the "Mexican Wave". From the article:
"But behind the humour lies a serious push from some fans to eliminate Mexican waves, so named because they came to prominence during the 1986 football World Cup there."
Has anyone else ever heard this called the "Mexican Wave"?

To be fair
It would be them doing the Mexican wave going up and down
Josh Hamilton: "I just show up, look at the lineup and play where I’m told. If they want me to catch, I’ll catch."
Jon Daniels on relationship with #Rangers Young: "I’d love to walk in and hug everybody every day, but that’s not critical to us winning." 2/19/11

Mexican Wave
It’s called that in Europe mostly because the first time many people over there saw the wave was during the ’86 World Cup in Mexico.

They need to get out more often then.

I'm pretty sure I saw it in Arlington Stadium before 1986
In fact I think there was a light beer commercial with the wave. And to answer your question, no, I have never heard it called the Mexican Wave before.
Me too
and I always thought it started at Seahawks football games.

I mean, if it was really a Mexican wave
then shouldn’t it be allowed at Selena Gomez concerts instead of Miley Cyrus concerts?
Besides, if it was just being done by Mexicans then it wouldn’t block the view of those behind them.

So, in Mexico do they just call it the "Hola"?
