In a not terribly surprising bit of news, Arthur Rhodes has been designated for assignment to make room for the newly acquired Mike Adams on the 25 man roster.

Rhodes, signed as a free agent this past offseason, has struggled most of the year, and with Adams and Koji Uehara both being extremely effective against lefthanders, Rhodes' value as a lefthanded specialist in the bullpen was greatly diminished.

With Rhodes, Tommy Hunter and Chris Davis all gone, and Adams and Uehara on board, the 40 man roster is currently at 39.  If and when Omar Quintanilla is dropped from the 25 man roster, the 40 man roster will be down to 38.
