Darren O'Day recalled, Taylor Teagarden optioned
Per various reports, Darren O'Day is being recalled from AAA Oklahoma, and Taylor Teagarden is being optioned to AAA Oklahoma.
O'Day will be part of an eight man bullpen, which will presumably be in place through September 1, at which points rosters expand and additional reinforcements can be recalled.
Teagarden had seen limited time since his recall, with his purpose basically being insurance as a third catcher so that Yorvit Torrealba and Mike Napoli can both be in the lineup at the same time. Teagarden will likely be back in early September.

What a great day this is.
Josh Hamilton: "I just show up, look at the lineup and play where I’m told. If they want me to catch, I’ll catch."
Jon Daniels on relationship with #Rangers Young: "I’d love to walk in and hug everybody every day, but that’s not critical to us winning." 2/19/11
yeahhhh
"Look if you want a journalist hire a UT grad. If you want a doctor you pick a Baylor grad. If you need a vet you see an Aggie grad. And if you need a pizza you call a Tech grad." -BUBacker
So Mitch better be ready for some DH duty
I’m guessing that we’ll see plenty of Nap at 1st and Yorvit at C and Mitch at DH between now and Sept 1st.
"Whenever I'm about to do something, I think 'Would an idiot do that?' And if they would, I do not do that thing."
Maybe a day in right
Nellie could use a night off. And I prefer David Murphy not spare us all to death.
If I had a gun to my head and had to pick one pitcher to pitch a game to save my life.... I'd pick 1999 Rick Helling.
Dear Rangers, Make me forget about 2010.......

AAA Oklahoma?
Round Rock?
"I'm fighting boredom just like you are, bro." "Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, pal. Stop saying Douchebag!"
That would be great
The Astros could use a guy like him.

I still do that.

Will Borbon be a September callup?
He went down in mid-July with his sprained ankle, and they said it would be 6 weeks.
Any chance he gets called up? Any chance he’s even healthy?

Pretty good article from ESPN about the Weaver extension
Weaver did give them a hometown discount and so anyone who thinks that CJ wont or shouldn’t get more than Weaver is going to be sadly mistaken.
I think Weaver could have gotten 20 per in FA
So that’s a pretty big discount. Before this, I was thinking CJ would command 5/80-85. I don’t know what to think now
I have much respect (grudging of course) for Weaver after his presser
Always good to hear a highly-paid athlete who can say “that’s enough money”.
The Texas Rangers have been synonymous with explosive firepower ever since they emptied 130 rounds into Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow in 1934. - Alyssa Milano
Weaver is the Angels pitcher I hate just because he's good. I still respect him also
I always hated Lackey just because he’s a douchebag.
With how pissed he seems to get at his teammates
giving them such a discount so that he can stay there surprises me a good bit.
"In fact, most of these free-swinging Padres couldn’t hit Dock’s funky palm ball. I threw it often. But by then, also, the first acid distractions entered: the TV flickered; the cracks in the wall started to move; the hand soap started to breathe — those sorts of things. Plus I was drawn to the outdoor garden between innings. Rain was near, I sensed." - A.J. Daulerio
Well CJ was always likely to get more than Weaver due to the nature of FA
but Weaver sets a pretty good benchmark for CJ, and who’s to say that CJ doesn’t give the Rangers a discount too. I’m not betting on it, but I wouldn’t have bet Weaver would have given the Angels one either.

I'll take your inside knowledge of this.

Reading that story reminded me of
Dancin’ Homer and the Capital City Goofball.
Can’t believe that episode first aired over 20 years ago.
