Sunday morning Rangers things

ARLINGTON, TX - SEPTEMBER 10: Josh Hamilton #32 of the Texas Rangers reacts to striking out during the seventh inning during a baseball game at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on September 10, 2011 in Arlington, Texas. Oakland won 8-7. (Photo by Brandon Wade/Getty Images)

Incredibly disappointing game yesterday, made even more disappointing by the Yankees flopping against the Angels and losing 6-0.  That drops the lead in the A.L. West down to 1.5 games.

Jeff Wilson says in his game story that Ron Washington felt good about his pitching matchups in the sixth inning, with Mike Gonzalez coming in to face the lefty-heavy lineup, and Yoshinori Tateyama available if the A's decided to bring up a righthanded pinch hitter.  It all went to plan until the pinch hitter, Scott Sizemore, hit a grand slam off of Tateyama.

T.R. Sullivan's game story talks about how the Rangers, with four losses in their last seven games, are struggling to shake Anaheim.

Anthony Andro has quotes from Yoshinori Tateyama in his story from yesterday's game, with Tateyama saying that his control is not good right now.

Jeff Caplan has his reactions to yesterday's game at the ESPN Dallas blog.

The S-T's notes talk about Adrian Beltre feeling like he's getting into a groove, Josh Hamilton returning to the team yesterday after missing Friday's game to be at the birth of his daughter, and injury updates.

Caplan writes that there were encouraging signs from Mitch Moreland and Adrian Beltre in the loss yesterday.

Wilson writes that Matt Treanor is happy to have been added to the Rangers' roster for the last month of the season.

Go to the game

Rangers need a sellout crowd today. Tell your friends. I’ll be firstbase, nosebleeds.

Baseball's hard, guys. I mean, it really is. You can love it but, believe me, it don't always love you back. It's kind of like dating a German chick, you know?

At least Wedgefest was fun!

today will make up for yesterday if 3 out of these 4 things happen

-rangers win
-cowboys win
-Mike Vick breaks his arm
-Yanks dont rollover

Through some cruel twist of fate

I ended up having to draft Vick for my fantasy team. And I’ve got the damn Jets defense.

Today I’m pulling for Philly, with a 9-6 Cowboys win over the Jets with 2 Romo INT’s. Make it happen, Jebus!

does not sound very plausible except for Romo getting two picks

We are going to the game this afternoon

With the children. My wife went yesterday and bought the children their Ranger outfits to wear. Rowan will be wearing a pink Texas Ranger Michael Young jersey.

so, you were at the game, right?

didn’t see you make a wedge appearance :(

plenty of time to tweet about the racist fans (was it mike bacsik????) but not enough time to grace us w your presence

You could have waved to us in the wedge.

"In fact, most of these free-swinging Padres couldn’t hit Dock’s funky palm ball. I threw it often. But by then, also, the first acid distractions entered: the TV flickered; the cracks in the wall started to move; the hand soap started to breathe — those sorts of things. Plus I was drawn to the outdoor garden between innings. Rain was near, I sensed." - A.J. Daulerio

oh, well then...I guess I'm the asshole

for not waving back.

Could there have been any worse game to watch (besides the Rangers losing)?

The team I hate the most playing team 1(a) on that list and team 1(a) rolling over and playing like a bunch of rookie leaguers. So frustrating…..

I was prepared for a Yankees loss, with Haren on the mound

but 6-0? Against CC? In NYC???

You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.

I thought the Yankees would beat up on Haren

and that CC would hold the Angels down. But no, that did not happen at all.
