New T.R. Sullivan Inbox column up

T.R. Sullivan has a new Inbox column up at the Rangers' website...

A lot of stuff there today...among other things, Sullivan talks about the Rangers' gold glove candidates (while referencing UZR), the future for Craig Gentry and David Murphy, and the status of Omar Beltre, Eric Hurley, Darren Oliver, and Scott Feldman for 2012, among other things...

Check it out...

Why is she eye-banging the guy with the dreads during the anthem?

Girls dig the dreads

"In fact, most of these free-swinging Padres couldn’t hit Dock’s funky palm ball. I threw it often. But by then, also, the first acid distractions entered: the TV flickered; the cracks in the wall started to move; the hand soap started to breathe — those sorts of things. Plus I was drawn to the outdoor garden between innings. Rain was near, I sensed." - A.J. Daulerio

My guesses

Returning Rangers

CJ – 50/50. I see a huge Yankee offer coming (maybe Boston, Angels and Florida too). Boston probably needs another SP anyway and they’ll bid if for no other reason than to make the Bankees pay more. Florida needs to make a splash with their new stadium to reenergize their fan base. The Angels have 3 top SPs and they have other holes to fill, but it’s not impossible that the Angels sign him anyway (to get him away from us) and trade Haren for a bat. Haren’s contract is reasonable considering his talent. Haren may have no trade clause though. Dodgers would try hard, but too much turmoil there now to make an offer unless they get sold real fast, doubtful.

eligible for arbitration:
Napoli, yes
Nelson Cruz, yes
Elvis Andrus, yes
Mike Adams, yes
David Murphy, no – Martin coming, too many lefty OFs. gotta save some $ somewhere.
Darren O’Day, no – too many guys of similar quality in the bp as it is.
Mark Lowe, yes, I like his upside.
Matt Harrison, beyond a doubt yes
Eric Hurley, ?
Esteban German – no
Andres Blanco. depends on costs and how what the long term prognosis is on his health.

Baseball's hard, guys. I mean, it really is. You can love it but, believe me, it don't always love you back. It's kind of like dating a German chick, you know?

I'd say 75 (stays) / 25 (goes) on CJ

Finding a hard-throwing, in-shape, consistent lefty who likes hot weather is tough, to say the least. The Rangers know that.

I still say it is Yankees, Rangers and Red Sox.

Yankees are going to most likely want to make a huge splash and in my opinion, they will pursue blockbuster trades. But that probably won’t keep them from pursuing CJ. Red Sox definitely need to improve their rotation behind Beckett and Lester.

I could see some NL team jumping into the sweepstakes, don’t think the Dodgers will be one. It could be a team wanting to make a big splash or it could be a team like the Braves (attempting to challenge the Phillies) or the Reds (desperately need a veteran top-of-the-rotation pitcher for that young, potent lineup).

PCL numbers get inflated though...

Dell Diamond was playing like a pre-humidor Coors according to Scott Lucas.

Quite the hitters league.

Amazingly brutal
