Awards Show/Fan Fest Weekend
Another reminder about the Rangers Awards Show tomorrow night at the Arlington Convention Center.
Doors open at 6pm....the awards show starts at 7:30....on your way home by 10. Reunion Band will perform, they are out of Austin and worked a post game party for us after WS Game 5. Nolan Ryan, Frank Howard, Tom Grieve, Mike Napoli, Michael Young, Derek Holland, Clayton Kershaw are just some that will be part of the program. We have a comedy group entertaining between awards, they will be doing a couple of skits with Napoli and Holland. Your ticket includes food and a Fan Fest preview. We had a run through today and it is going to be a real good show.
Fan Fest actually starts on Friday....the Rangers did a release today, great lineup of players all weekend, Friday through Sunday at the Convention Center. Q & A seasions, wiffle ball park....if you are a Rangers fan, the Arlington Convention Center is the place to be this weekend.
Plus, I convinced them to put some individual game tickets on sale for only $5. For those of you that can't make it, you can buy those on line. $5 tickets to some games only available during Fan Fest weekend. Buy them on line or at Fan Fest this weekend.
I hope you can make it this weekend...come up and say hello, ask me a baseball trivia question...I need the help before I go to New York on Monday to compete in the MLB Network Baseball IQ trivia contest.....if I hear from enough of you I will work in a Lone Star Ball reference on the show if I get by the first round against the Angels.
Thanks
Chuck Morgan

So what we know is we don't know anything.
Prince Fielder remains available, but as MLB.com’s Tom Singer shows, most elite free agents sign considerably earlier on in the offseason. In fact, there’s a chance Fielder will sign the latest megadeal in baseball history. Here are the latest rumors on Fielder, as we await concrete news of his next destination…
MLB.com’s Bill Ladson hears that there’s a 99% chance that the Nationals will not sign Fielder.
Someone with knowledge of the Rangers’ finances doubts they’d invest in Yu Darvish and Fielder, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports (Twitter link). Morosi notes that the Nationals are viewed as the favorites for Fielder.
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com suggests Fielder may not sign until the Rangers finish negotiating with Darvish next week (Twitter link). Heyman notes that the Rangers are a "team of interest" when it comes to Fielder.

All signs point to the Rangers landing Prince.

If I had a Rangers shirt
with this and a #28 I would probably never take it off.

Darvish press conference on the 18th....
Prince on the 19th…..
Does that work for everyone?

I'm more of a fan of the dual press conference.
Josh Hamilton: "I just show up, look at the lineup and play where I’m told. If they want me to catch, I’ll catch."
Jon Daniels on relationship with #Rangers Young: "I’d love to walk in and hug everybody every day, but that’s not critical to us winning." 2/19/11
My thinking was why have a joint press conference and take away from
one of the players….spread the joy for Rangers fans and misery for LAAAAAA fans over 2 days…..

Someone please go to Fan Fest
and take gratuitous photos of Mike Adams.
I will be forever grateful.

Wish I could be there...
but I will be at the Rangers/Round Rock Express luncheon at the Dell Diamond on February 1. I don’t know if you will make it.
Here is a Rangers trivia question, named the pitcher that picked of Maury Wills in the World Series and played for the Rangers?
Hint: He was fined and suspended for throwing a spitball by MLB while pitching against Gaylord Perry.
Answer: Jim Merritt
