A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).

Man, there is no greater advantage than picking early in the minor league draft
The difference b/w having Matt Moore or Yu Darvish year after year and taking a flyer on the 12th ranked guy is huge
Easiest way to do it though.
You could do an auction but it would be so unwieldy from the get-go.

In retrospect, I think it would have been better to have one draft, and let people load their teams with prospects if they really wanted. It will work out, though. One player doesn’t make that much of a difference in a fantasy baseball league.

12 and 13 probably won’t be as valuable, but if I draft smart it might be in the long run.

What's the rule on acquiring minor league players in the middle of the season?
In past dynasty leagues, we’ve played where you can only acquire minor leaguers in the annual minor league draft….
First-in, first-served.
If you add him before anybody else picks him up, you win.

Nolan Arenado had one of the best 0-for-4s I’ve seen in a showcase event. On top of demonstrating that he has made big strides on defense at third, he made some loud contact and showed an exceptional approach at the plate. Arenado has an uncanny knack for getting his hands through the ball. I see some Pujols in him. I really do. If Arenado doesn’t wind up being a well-above-average MLB hitter, I’ll be surprised. Throw in potential average or better defense at third base and you have one of the top prospects in baseball. It wouldn’t shock me if he ends up having a better career than Harper, not in the slightest.

Ben Badler: Guy throws up to 100, sits in the mid-90s with sink and control and he just annihilated the Midwest League in his U.S. debut. He’s not as big as Michael Pineda, but I think his stuff right now might be better already, or comparable at the very least. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still risk, but it’s a freakish arm.

If you can’t show up to the first year ML draft of a dynasty league, then you get can fucked. Just make sure people agree to a date/time.

This was after the 2009 season (and draft)
So Chapman had just been signed, Trout was unknown and all, Montgomery had been decent but nothing amazing, and Teheran was only starting to receive hype.
I also drafted Chris Withrow but of course he became useless in 2011. I ended up flipping him and David Aardsma midway through 2010 for Nolan Reimold and Fernando Martinez in what must be the most ineffectual trade ever.
