I always forget how much Dominique Wilkins dominated. He has to be the most under the radar “greatest” players of all time.

by AfterSchoolSpecial on Jan 14, 2012 3:17 PM CST reply actions

depends on how long he wants to play

if he plays 50 more games this season and averages 20 points, that’ll give him almost 1100 more points and i’ll think he’s a good bet to average 20 the next year too

So Lawson is the key piece I want to move, but I think Lawson > Thornton and would want to expand the deal accordingly.

I see your biggest weaknesses as 3’s, FT% and rebounding. Are you wanting to improve them are fully punt some?

I think I'm a little overloaded on point guards, so not too big on Lawson.

I think Thornton has a shot at replicating his numbers to finish off last season with Sactown.

I probably could use a big man or a swingman.

by sprite on Jan 16, 2012 9:15 PM CST up reply actions

He's not atrocious or anything.

But even starting he’s taking about 10 shots a game. When they fall in bunches like tonight it looks good… when it’s 30% like the previous two games he puts up a line like 7, 3, 2 in 38 minutes.

Do you really think he’ll do much more than 12-13 points a game? Especially once Barea gets healthy again?

On if the Rangers’ pursuit of Prince Fielder is simply a negotiating tactic for Yu Darvish:

Grant : I think there’s a lot is a lot of negotiating tactic going on here, but I think, when you cut to the chase, I think the Rangers are interest in signing both Yu Darvish and Prince Fielder. I expect the Darvish deal is going to get done. Nolan Ryan has been very upfront about saying he thinks it’s going to get done, they feel optimistic about that. But it’s very, very clear that this is where he wants to be. He’s waiting all winter, guys who normally have the kind of contract demands he has usually sign in December. We’re now in the second week of January and he’s still sitting there unsigned. It appears that he and Scott Boras have been waiting all along for the Rangers to get their Darvish situation settled so they could get down to brass tacks between Prince and the Range

It’s tough right now when you have to run your offense through Jason Terry.

He's said he's having trouble bending his knees.

He’s got a brace on the knee and he looks pretty immobile at this point. I would sit him a week or however long it takes for him to get healthy.

But he’s one of the better clutch, late game shot makers of this generation. Very underrated in that regard.

He said the Mavs are soft in the midddle.

And that they’re trying to outscore people. Oh, and Stevenson was one of our top two defenders.

Just couldn’t have been more wrong.

He was right about the Blake Griffin discussion though. Kenny and Shaq tabbed Griffin as the best PF in the NBA, Barkley disagreed.

He probably doesn't even watch their games, even on TNT.

Everything he’s said about them this season has been dead wrong.

by behindthebag on Jan 20, 2012 12:36 AM CST up reply actions

Heh

I don’t know how anybody watching this team could say they’re trying to outscore people..

Stevenson would’ve been nice at the cost but he’s not as big a deal as the media are making him out to be.

And I agree on Griffin. Saw a report the other day that said the Clippers will not trade him for anybody in the league. That’s insane.

by sprite on Jan 20, 2012 12:37 AM CST up reply actions

Said he doesn't believe in the Mavs this year because they got smaller (lol)

Also laughed and said even though the stats and numbers show the Mavs defense has been better than last season, he thinks they aren’t good (lol). They won’t contend this season.

Went on to say Blake Griffin is overrated (lol).

Hit the breaking news sounder, Expo.
A native of Dallas, Williams is also fond of the idea of playing for the Mavericks. Dallas lacks the pieces to pull off a trade, but if Williams becomes a free agent and the Nets don’t get Howard, the Mavericks, who will have enough cap room to offer him a maximum contract, are his likeliest landing spot, a source said.
….
If the Nets’ nightmare scenario comes to pass and they don’t get Howard, sources said they will not trade Williams for marginal players merely to avoid losing him for nothing in free agency. If Williams walks, the Nets will be left with enough cap room to sign two high-salaried players, which they view as a better option than eating up their cap space with average talent.
