Jones can’t play CF.
His UZR has been terrible for the last three seasons, and his DRS only looks better because DRS places more value on his arm. Rangewise, the DRS range metric also rates him terribly.
Moreover, he doesn’t walk and doesn’t hit for enough power to be a decent COF.
I wouldn’t trade Harrison for him.

I don’t see the Rangers trading for a CF like that with Leonys in the fold. They have invested a lot of money and time in him, very aggressively trying to hurry him along as their next every day CF. If he has a great camp there’s a greater than zero chance he makes opening day. I don’t expect it, but I can’t see the point in trading for someone like Jones if you expect Leonys to be ready sometime this year.
If you add a CF it’s just a stopgap kind of guy, and really a platoon of Borbon and Gentry is likely to be about as good as any stopgap measure, so what’s the point?

until after the start of the season. Someone is liable to get hurt during spring training and there would probably be good reason for either Lewis or Oswalt to start on DL and make a few rehab starts firsts.
