Well, I'd just never watched cricket before. That was just the first video of a match I was able to find.
I might look for more later.
I watched a random introduction to cricket video and looked up the rules on wikipedia so I'm aware of the basic rules.
However I don’t know the terminology for the different ways that the bowler bowls the ball, the various shots the batsman takes, or for the various parts of the field. I’m hoping to pick up more of that as I watch more.

It's not _that_ complicated, I think.
If you are batting, the goal is to score as many runs as possible while not getting out and if you are bowling/fielding, the goal is to not allow runs while getting the batsmen out.
Now I'm watching an IPL match from 2010.
One thing I’m really digging in both these matches is how much they use video review. Imagine that: you have a bunch of cameras recording a sporting event and you actually use them to make sure you get the calls right.

When I started in 1999 there were 5,500

If you guys don’t mind being crowdsourced a bit, these are the three laptops I think I’m down to.
First one is the cheapest, maybe the best deal.
Second one really doesn’t seem much different from the first, aside from the fact that it has an i5 processor instead of an i3. I’m not totally sold on buying from Tiger Direct, though.
Last one has the attraction of a 750 gig HD and is probably the sexiest-looking of the bunch. But it’s a 5400 rpm HD, not a 7200 rpm, which I’m told is a big difference maker. It does have two extra gigs of RAM to help make up for that, though.
Any thoughts, LSB?

as will 5400 vs 7200
i would go w/ the middle one, if you have an issue w/ the RAM you can always buy more/replace whats in it (they link to 8gb for 50$ — solid deal)
FYI, you can get a squaretrade warranty for another 100$ (100% parts/labor, 5 day guarantee of service, etc) if you so choose

it is going to be easier to replace the RAM (and cheaper) than HDD — 750 GB 7200 RPM hdd = $150 at newegg vs ~$50 for more RAM

Really, no matter what I get is gonna be a huge, huge upgrade. I’m just trying to aim as high as I can on a budget.
Really, that might turn out to be the deciding factor now that the second one has gone up in price. It’s now actually a tad past the cusp of what I should be spending.
I do wonder if I could get the first one with an i5, and what that would look like cost-wise – that doesn’t seem to be an option on the HP website, though.

I prefer the faster for a system drive, but it's not a deal breaker.
external storage or raid drives I have no problem with the slower, but I dont’ do a lot of editing or other tasks that may require the drive speed.
My ideal setup would be a an SSD drive for the OS with a larger regular drive for storage. They have the macbook kits that swap out the optical drive for an HD bay. I’ll eventually get one.
So if it was between B and C above
Bite the bullet and pay the extra few bucks for all the specs I want, or get the slightly cheaper one with the slower rpm (but bigger) HD?

Basically I’m looking for a 7200 rpm HD (minimum 500 gigs) an i5 processor, and at least 4 gigs of RAM pre-loaded (and Win 7 home premium 64-bit, but that seems to be pretty standard).
It seems to be a tall order finding that or anything near that under $650.

youre going to want to have a bigger processor already. go with the bigger processor. the hard drive is largely irrelevant, you can buy an internal or external one later. the processor is pretty much the most important thing on a laptop.

I know there are a couple of S3 Explorer-type apps
At first glance, this one is free: http://www.cloudberrylab.com/free-amazon-s3-explorer-cloudfront-IAM.aspx, but doesn’t have any easy automation…looks like it interfaces with Microsoft PowerShell, so you could script some backups, but probably wouldn’t be easy.
This one’s $70, but lets you schedule backups: http://www.bucketexplorer.com/
Haven’t used any myself, but S3 space is so cheap, it’s definitely a good way to back up files, especially if you have more than you could store in Dropbox, box.net, etc.

There is an ass load of free parking in downtown FW.
It amazes me that people will still park in the pay lots.
Except there is quite often free parking just as close.
My favorite part on Friday and Saturday nights is when people try to park in the garage I use…apparently the big blue “contract parking only” sign is either difficult to decipher or actually invisible to people driving vehicles. People pull in…push a button on what used to give out tickets probably a decade ago when it wasn’t only contract parking for the next 4 minutes and then look like jackasses when they have to back out into oncoming traffic.

The problem is that it includes a rather prominent stint working in the Obama Administration. In an election cycle where you’re targeting one guy and saying “I can beat that guy, nominate me!” it isn’t exactly the best strategy to start out by lauding having worked for him.

Sure. Sorry for the inexactitude. I'm not big on measured recipes
2 lbs pork stew meat (I use boneless pork ribs cut into 1-inch pieces)
15 medium sized tomatillos
5 mild chile peppers (pref. hatch or, if you’re feeling feisty, poblano)
chicken stock
1/2 medium sweet onion, chopped
onion salt
garlic powder
garlic salt
chili powder
cumin
pickled carrots (I use the leftover hot carrots from the jalapeno cans)
corn starch
monterrey jack cheese
Preheat oven broiler and heat a skillet over med-high heat
Season the pork liberally with chili powder, onion salt, garlic powder.
In the skillet brown pork on all sides, but do not cook through (2 mins. tops)
To crock pot (on low setting) add: pork, 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp garlic salt, carrots, onion, just enough chicken stock to cover
Remove husks from tomatillos and slice off the tops so that one side is flat.
Place the tomatillos flat side up and the chiles on a baking sheet under the broiler
Broil until the skins of the peppers are blackened on all sides (turn them as needed) 20-25 mins.
Remove the tomatillos and peppers and allow to cool*
Remove skins and seeds from the peppers
Run the tomatillos and peppers in a food processor.
Add the peppers and tomatillos to the crock pot and stir to incorporate.
Thicken with corn starch slurry if you want it thicker.
Leave in crock pot on low 7-8 hours, occasionally stirring and seasoning to taste. **
Serve topped with mont. jack cheese and torillas or tortilla chips.
XPlace these in a dish in the freezer for a few minutes to cool them more quickly. The tomatillo “meat” should slide right out of the skin when you squeeze it.
XXThe spices aren’t exact so play around with whatever you like to use. I like to throw in this Goya Adobo Seasoning.

Notes:
1. I used to squeeze the tomatillo meat out of the skins. Now I don’t think that’s necessary, so I just toss them in the food processor.
2. Half a jar of Goya Recaito is also a good thickener. Better than using slurry.

It's really, really good
It doesn’t have any explosions, so I’ll probably be called a “movie hipster” for liking it, but it takes the premise and really turns it on it’s head. A really joyful film and Jenkins is awesome.
