He was arrested today for using a false identity to obtain a visa. His real name is Roberto Hernandez Heredia, and he is 31.

This is hilarious.

I just read Michal AJM’s headline. Her comment:

“The Holy Roman Empire was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire. Discuss.”

(She also feels like Voltaire got a raw deal from SNL.)

So true.

Ugh

The Dominican isn’t, say, Cuba. You don’t need to use any means necessary to leave the DR like you do there. But even in Cuba they lie about their ages all the time, and not just to escape. There is no age qualification to entire the U.S. The only prerequisite in that category is to be alive. These people camouflage their identity not to leave but to maximize the reward of leaving – to fool teams into thinking they’re worth more to them as, say, Fausto Carmona, 28, than Roberto Heredia, 31.

The Indians have given him $15 million so far for a lie. Either we agree to live by certain rules or we don’t.

Jeff Wilson just posted the yearly breakdown of Yu's salary.
2012: $5.5 million

2013: $9.5 million

2014: $10 million

2015: $10 million

2016: $10 million

2017: $11 million

If he opts out, the contract would have paid him $45 million for 5 years without roster bonuses.

Right which

would make it a 5/96 mil investment but arent there still incentives (or are you referring to those as roster bonuses?) to factor in? Im thinking that if he earn the right to opt out that he probably will have met those performance incentives as well.

He has $4 million in roster bonuses

$10 million in incentives.

So...

…if Hamilton remains stubborn but can show the league he’s healthy during spring training, do the Rangers go ahead and sign Fielder and then trade Hamilton and maybe Olt for a young outfielder before the season starts?

by Black Francis on Jan 20, 2012 12:15 AM CST up reply actions

No, I didn't say that.

Sign Fielder whenever he and the Rangers can make a deal. Then once Hamilton has shown everyone that he’s healthy during Spring Training, make a trade. Hamilton should have value. Olt definitely has value but there’s no spot for him if Beltre and Fielder are holding down the corners. I think you could get a great young outfielder for those two, though I admittedly have no idea specifically who that would be.

Roberto Hernandez Heredia

Roberto Hernandez + Gil Heredia? Is this even his real name?

Didn't we have a Cleveland blogger on here for awhile?

He seemed to think the Indians had a chance to compete this year.

With a name like Fausto Carmona... I felt like he had a chance to turn it around again and be a really good pitcher.

I don’t feel that way with a Roberto Heredia. What a boring name.

This day is slightly marred by the fact that John Rhadigan sucks a flaming bag of shit. - LiamP
