Worst fantasy baseball trade you ever made
I'll get it started. It's 2010, I've got Jose Bautista, who's on a freakish homerun streak. I figure, fantasyt baseball 101, this is a fluke, he's bound to come back down to Earth, Why not buy low sell high, plus I needed steals. So, long story short, Jose Bautista for Chone Figgins... It's a keeper league btw. Needless to say, Bautista is still raking, and Figgins, long gone from my roster, is and in the longest freakish slump in baseball history. Why even call it a slump. He's worse than bad, He's Jeff Mathis without the Cather's mitt.

This is actually the best trade for me but the worst for my buddy
In 2001 we had a keeper 5×5 roto. I needed a 1st baseman and my buddy was in love with Rusty Greer but he was injured at the time. I gave up Rusty for a little heard of prospect that had been called up and was mashing the bigs. My buddy’s exact quote after the trade was “You are an idiot. What, like we are witnessing coming of Joe Dimaggio”
That rookie was Albert Pujols. We still harass him to this day for trading the greatest hitter of our lives for a guy that went on to play maybe 80 more games in the bigs.
@AdamLikesBeer If you are in Minneapolis I can tell you where to get a good brew.
Joey Votto and Joe Nathan for Grady Sizemore and Carlos Marmol, three days before the start of the 2010 season.
Sigh.

Last year in an LSB League
I was sure Michael Young was playing over his head… and Carl Crawford would start smashing.

It wasn't a trade, but early last year I dropped Ellsbury because he got off to an awful start
and I think I picked up Coco Crisp.
Joey Votto and Zack Greinke for Jeff Niemann and Troy Glaus (off the free agent wire) in 2010.
I had Ortiz and Morneau already (and Hamilton!), needed pitching (had Lincecum in his down year), and 2010 was a down year for Greinke (and probably Niemann’s best season).
Then Glaus fell off the face of the Earth, Morneau and Youkilis both had season-ending injuries (and Hamilton was out the last month), and I finished fourth despite having the AL MVP (when I could have had the MVP for both leagues!)
That year sucked.
Bourn, Felix Hernandez, Carlos Santana for Prince Fielder this season.
What can I say I like the big boy. Coincidentally, that guy beat me in the championship game. On the other hand, my 1B, 1/3B, and UTILITY slots contained Albert Pujols, Prince Fielder, and Tex. They make good with HR and RBI categories.
Already had Verlander and Felix didn’t have an amazing year anyways. I just gave up too much depth to compete with him, and that’s all that matters with categories.
Paul Konerko, Victor Martinez and John Axford for Carl Crawford, Joe Maeur and Jonny Gomes last season..
What an epic fail. I had Konerko and new he would be solid all season, however, VMart started slow and on the DL IIRC and Axford had blown a couple early save opportunities.. Needless to say, after I traded Axford, he converted every single save opportunity in the regular season and VMart was one of the best fantasy catchers again.
Carl Crawford started out very slow and I was convinced he would of turned it around, Never happened. I maybe got 10 games out of Joe Maeur all season who had his pussy “flu-like” symptoms. Absolutely garbage.
And then there was Jonny Gomes. He was on a tear early on batting in the three hole I believe for Cincy. He was absolutely garbage after that and I ended up dropping him.
Very embarrassing..
Another believer in Carl Crawford last year
After Carl’s slow start, I traded Jacoby Ellsbury and Asdrubal Cabrera, who I was sure was on a fluke power surge at the time. Of course, Carl never really came out of his slump, Ellsbury went on to be one of the very best fantasy players, and Asdrubal, while he did sort of come back to Earth, was still a top 5 shortstop at the end of the year, and I was stuck playing Alexei Ramirez.
I won the championship though, so I guess all turned out well.
I got
Carlos Gonzalez for Mike Gonzalez a week into 2010 season. Guy said he needed saves and I said you can have Mike Gonzalez. Went on to win the league that year.
2004
Traded a struggling Gary Sheffield mid-May for a red-hot Scott Kazmir. Chef ended up #2 in the MVP voting. F.
In late 2008
I traded Michael Young and Jermaine Dye for Felix Hernandez and Troy Tulowitzki.
Needless to say that trade worked out pretty well for me. I kept both of them each year after that and he kept MY and Dye just one year and that was all. Dye is out of the league now obviously.

last year a guy in our league dropped Mike Napoli from his team in late April. My buddy picked him up and finished second in the league.

I traded away A.J. Pierzynski and Huston Street for Brian McCann this past year
Keeper league.
AJP never stayed on my buddy’s roster and shortly after the trade, Street only got 3 more saves.
