Japanese signage
besides the obvious revolving signs behind home plate, I bet you’ll see Chuck throw some up on the right field porch ribbon.
that would accomodate the camera well next to the visitors’ dugout.
Eh, article was a good start, but incomplete
It would have been nice to see quotes from marketing experts on the money Texas could demand for stadium or Spring Training signage. Furthermore, researching Ichiro regional merchandise sale numbers would have been a nice benchmark. As you said, coming up with a $/year for Darvish would have been difficult, but I think a little extra research would have gone a long way to show how quickly/slowly that posting fee will get recouped.
But you get what you pay for with internet journalism I suppose…
Many... it's been a Sunday morning full of odd statements.
Let me know when a local beat writer provides a more substantive article on the potential marketing value of Yu.

Exactly correct
It was sloppy and lazy reporting. Durrett knows better. How much do the Rangers get for outfield signs now? How many Darvish jerseys do they expect to sell? What’s their margin? Did the Yankees or Mariners make significant money off of Matsui and Ichiro?

Sloppy and lazy?
Just because it wasn’t as complete or in-depth as you would have wanted doesn’t make it sloppy and/or lazy. That’s a pretty serious charge to level against someone that is generally considered one of our best local reporters.
What’s sloppy and lazy is not having looked up for yourself that we don’t get the proceeds from all of the Darvish jerseys sold because of merchandise revenue sharing.

hmmm
Rangers get all profits from merchandise sold at the stadium. Can they sell stuff online and keep all that profit?
This part confuses me.
If it is sold online but through the Ranger’s stores and to someone within their region, do they get to completely keep the profits?
