Awards Show

Just wanted to remind everyone that the Texas Rangers Awards Show presented by Dr Pepper is scheduled for Thursday January 12th at the Arlington Convention Center. We had a meeting today for the final run down and it is going to be a pretty good show featuring appearances by Michael Young, Mike Napoli, David Murphy, Derek Holland. Adrian Beltre, Craig Gentry, Nolan, Wash and JD. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the ballclub, Frank Howard will also receive a special award from Tom Grieve. We will have some comedy routines featuring Rangers players, a live band and more. The doors open at 6pm, the show starts at 7:30....between 6 and 7:30 all fans will get a special preview of Fan Fest. Plenty of food, some fun and awards for Rangers players. Anybody been before?

Was thinking about going with my wife. Anybody been before, is it worth it? Meet any players, pictures, or autographs?

it’s a different format. in years past, it was a banquet, with a dinner and awards show. In that format, everyone comes out, and is on a stage, and generally there’s no access for meet/greet with the players, coaches.

This year, it seems like it’s more of a theater setting, with a stage, so i doubt you can just walk up and take a picture with anyone.

Also, Feldman’s getting married on the 14th in nor cal, and i heard most of the team is going or is in the wedding. In years past, you’d get maybe 20 of the 25 players to go to the banquet. sounds like this year, it’s going to be maybe 5-10.

But i think this year will still be fun. we’re going.

that scoundrel. he should have instead had the wedding at the awards show. definitely win the award for “best wedding during an awards banquet”.

plus, think of all the savings in catering costs. :)
