Kinsler will earn $7.2 Million this year (Cot's) and has an option for 2013 at $10 Million (Wikipedia), the buyout for '13 is $750 Thou'nd (Cot's). I'm not quite sure what the convention is but he will be 30 for the majority of the 2012 season, as his birth date is June 22, 1982. Thinking of 28 as the optimal age for a baseball player, I will consider the last five years of production.

At $4.5 M/WAR, this equals to approximately $21.15 M/season over the last five years.
Obviously the option should be picked up barring something horrible happening this season, somebody reverse jinx this please. So with Ian going on after his 31 year old season, what would you expect reasonable compensation to be to extend him and for how long?
I think the eventual decline will set in sooner than later considering his injury history. At first guess, I’m thinking two extra years at $18 M/year. Not enough? Too much? I’m leaning toward not enough.
I haven’t seen a lot of talk about this, so just looking for some opinions and maybe some hard core data if one of you “do gooders” are up to it.
