Friday a.m. Rangers things

Good morning.

The S-T has a piece up about the improvements being made to the area behind centerfield at TBIA.

Jeff Wilson has a story on the higher railings that are being put in at every elevated level at TBIA.

Richard Durrett talked to Mike Adams, who underwent hernia surgery on Wednesday. Adams is expected to be ready for the start of the season, although he's supposedly going to be a little bit behind at the start of spring training.

Anthony Andro has a story about Josh Hamilton's father-in-law being named Hamilton's new "accountability partner," now that Johnny Narron is gone.

Wilson's notes include stuff on Josh Hamilton's accountability partner, Mike Adams undergoing hernia surgery, and a pitching camp the Rangers are holding for upper level prospects and some young major leaguers in January.

T.R. Sullivan's notes hit on Adams' surgery, Hamilton, the Yu Darvish situation, the pitching camp, and this year's winter caravan.

Heh

My fiancee apparently has it.

My future sister in law is in college for physical therapy and when she was home for Christmas was looking at my fiancees shoulder and said she has the symptoms of TOS. I just started laughing and they both looked at me weird.

by bigsteve on Jan 6, 2012 10:53 AM CST up reply actions

Same with me

An ex told me she might have something called TOS. It was weird for her I knew so much about it. Fortunately she’s a baseball fan so as I went through the Rangers with it she understood its not that unusual.

Thats the weird thing

After I stopped giggling and we started talking about it and I was explaining how a lot of rangers had it, etc I mentioned that they got ribs removed to fix the issue and my future sister in law said thats weird because normally thats like a last resort type thing. Normal people go through physical therapy to fix it before going to a surgical approach.

I guess though a pro athlete would jump straight to the quickest and most surefire solution in order to return to action quickest

Not really

Giving fan favorites deals they don’t deserve ends up with contracts like the ones they gave Rusty Greer and Michael Young. Guys are fan favorites because of past performance. Contracts should be given based on what the team thinks future performance will be.

I keep wondering if fan favorite SHOULD play into it

If the Rangers really have as much money as is speculated maybe they can afford the risk. We all know the cons of Hammy but the pro is he truly is a fan favorite both locally and nationally which is different than Face. Josh probably sells some tickets but also brings viewers which helps TV ratings.
The big risk is his swing slows to the point he’s a liability but still in the lineup.

Football can go to hell. The Rangers aren't ready for football season and neither am I.

New York Mets have hired a consulting firm called CRG Partners. The significance? That’s the same consulting firm Tom Hicks and the Texas Rangers hired in 2010 (a) to put them into and help them through bankruptcy and; (b) to eventually help sell the team to Chuck Greenberg and Nolan Ryan.

I think the most interesting point is that Tracy was traded because he "blocked" a recent acquisition, Snyder.

Talent upgrades, even if incremental and involving an emergency scenario. Depth of planning the Rangers FO undertakes seems bottomless when I see moves like this.

Interesting choice the Rays made. They could’ve skipped Longoria as well and stuck with their original plan. It could’ve worked out either way.

I’m betting that the Rockies inquired about Tracy and the Rangers areed to a trade once they found a suitable replacement.

by RangerMad on Jan 6, 2012 11:08 AM CST up reply actions

I don't think so. Snyder is a better player than Tracy.

This guy is no more than a call up on the bench should an injury occur to both MY and Moreland, but I do think they decided to upgrade and then approached the Rockies.

I would like to believe, but I don’t, that it’s just JD arranging for some family time for the Tracy’s, which would seem like a nice thing to do to a nice guy whose not really going to have a ML career. I think the evidence is that the Rangers constantly look to upgrade talent at all levels.

Why does he seem to be continually overlooked? Especially after his great season last year.

No mention as one of the “top prospects” coming to the camp in Wilson’s article and just a mention as one of the pitchers by TR, and no mention on the “Top 10” by Mayo…

I feel this will just anger the hardest training pitcher in the Rangers system…

plus, you can still sign them both. just backload Darvish’s deal a bit. (which makes some sense anyway since his first 2 years he’d normally be “pre-arb” levels.)

Any attorneys on today?

Got a bit of an issue on my hands and I may need a lawyer.

The scouting report on Salty is that he’s a pampered, curly-haired motherfuck who didn’t earn his stripes. He has trouble throwing the ball back to the pitcher, claims to be a switch-hitter and is piss-poor in the clutch.

Have fun!

I'm not in Texas so I'm out

Good luck. Try checking some of their profiles for email addresses.

Yes and no

Spent most of the day in MY (not Michael Young) office getting more things arranged. Got a few clients (one good case) and hopefully more in the pipeline. If I keep my shit straight it should work out. Scares the hell out of me but it probably should.

Good to hear...

it’s got to be a lot tougher in an area that’s so sparsley populated.

Thanks bud

Starting up your own place is quite surreal. But enough other attorneys are trying to refer things to me that it should work. It’s the ancillary things that I fear like books, etc. I know I can practice law but I’ve always just done it for others. Win the case and let others do the other business shit. Now it’s my entire baby.
