Ranger minor league first baseman Chris McGuiness has been named the 2012 Arizona Fall League MVP.
McGuiness hit .283/.370/.467 for Surprise in 25 games and led the league with 27 RBIs. The selection of McGuiness seems a little idiosyncratic, as he was only 22nd in the league in OPS -- Josh Prince, a shortstop, hit .404/.491/.573 in 25 games -- but the RBI total appears to have carried the day.
Tepid Participation did a writeup of McGuiness earlier in the week which you can read here.
Although McGuiness is Rule 5 eligible this season, it appears unlikely he will be added to the 40 man roster.
