This is Mike's brother, Bob. The better of the two Golics. Come at me bro.
Well if A&M's victory over Bama last week wasn't enough, Baylor and Stanford decided to one up the Aggies with wins over #1 Kansas State and #2 Oregon, respectively. Folks, this is why college football is better than the NFL. Let's review, shall we?
1. No sell-out? No problem! - 38,000 or so loyal Bears fans packed Lloyd Casey Stadium to see their alma mater pull off what some consider the biggest win in the program's tenure. RG3 has already been forgotten. Shame on you, Waco-nites.
2. The hope of the Kelly Bowl took a hit as the Cardinal(wtf? Is it a color? Is it a tree?!) defeat the Ducks in their own house. If you would've told me Stanford would lose Harbaugh and Luck and still compete at this level, I would've laid some dough down. No take backs.
3. The old guard has a dilemma. The voters of the Heisman Memorial Trophy can do one of two things that they are not known for. They can vote for a middle linebacker who has had a monumental season, or they can vote for a red shirt freshman quarterback who has cemented himself as the most exciting college football player this season. What do you do? What do you do?
4. Thursday's gone with the wind. Admit it, you're gonna miss not watching A&M and UT battle it out Thursday night. TCU has some big shoes to fill if they want this new annual game to have some meaning. Good luck, GP.
5. College Football is better when ND is playing for a National Title. I severely contradict myself when I say this, because I don't believe that MLB is better when the Yankees are in the Fall Classic. I was raised on watching ND football in my youth, I remember the epic '93 season and the robbery that occurred, and, duh, I'm Irish. This, honestly, could be a season that the Golden Domers won't have after another 20 or so seasons. They haven't played for a National Title since, what, 89 or 90, I believe? Let them have their day in the sun, win or lose. Of course, they still have USC to get by....
