Cliff Lee! - Al Bello

Sunday morning Rangers news and links

Christmas is exactly one month away. That's scary.

Richard Durrett has a blog post commenting on David Schoenfield's blog post at ESPN in which five blockbuster trades are proposed, including a proposal of Mike Olt, Martin Perez, Leonys Martin and Cody Buckel to Philadelphia for Cliff Lee, Nate Schierholtz and Antonio Bastardo. Given that Lee is owed $102.5 million over the next four years (assuming his option vests, which is likely), and given that the Rangers didn't want to pay him $25 million per year when they were trying to re-sign him two years ago, I can't imagine the Rangers would agree to part with four of their best upper-level prospects for the privilege of paying him that much.

Evan Drelich has a story at mlb.com about Mike Napoli exploring his options, with Boston, Seattle and Texas appearing to be the leading contenders right now.

Gerry Fraley offers an update on Licey, where several Rangers top prospects are playing winter ball. Fraley notes that the Licey manager has been fired and Jurickson Profar is in a 3 for 28 slump.

Finally, sad news...Alexandra McHale, the daughter of Rockets coach Kevin McHale (who has been on an indefinite leave of absence), has passed away at the age of 22.
