Reliever Mike Adams was on Sirius XM Radio's MLB Network channel this week and spoke candidly about Josh Hamilton, saying that he doesn't know if it is in the Rangers' best interest to bring Hamilton back, and that "you don't know which Josh is going to show up" from day to day.
Adams, who, like Hamilton, is a free agent, had positive things to say about Hamilton, but in the excerpts quoted in the link above, you get a sense for the frustration that some of his Hamilton's teammates seemingly have over his inconsistency.
Hamilton is reportedly seeking a 7 year, $175 million deal. Given his age and his inability to stay healthy, a seven year deal seems unlikely. You can not unreasonably point to Albert Pujols and Prince Fielder, who got a ten year deal and a nine year deal, respectively, last offseason, and say that Hamilton will get seven years, but neither Pujols nor Fielder have Hamilton's history of injuries or off-field issues.
