Merry Christmas, Lone Star Ball!

Today it is Christmas. So, today T.R. Sullivan writes about some Rangers spending a bit of their holiday time with children at Cook's Children's Medical Center. My heart is sufficiently warmed. Also, Josh Lindblom sounds like a really nice fella.

And I'll let Gerry Fraley deliver some bummer news on the passing of former Rangers owner Brad Corbett yesterday.

There you are.

Here's a holiday poem for you and yours:

Twas the morning of Christmas, when all through the throng,
Not a wallet was stirring, not even the moneydong.
The plans were all laid out for the offseason with care,
In hopes that a Greinke soon would be here.

The front office was nestled all smug in their homes,
While visions of aces and sluggers danced in our domes.
And Adam in his Deal With It glasses, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for baseball's long winter's nap.

When out on the 'sphere there arose such a clatter,
I clicked on MLB Trade Rumors to see what was the matter.
Away to the browser tab I flew like a flash,
Viewed the first headline to look for a splash.

The news was on Hamilton the new-fallen Angel,
A chapter concluded and a choice made quite painful.
With what would the Rangers counter their rival's spree,
But with baseball's most hated player, A.J. Pierzynski.

With the options soon dwindling, and trades dying fast,
It felt like dealing the Face was already distant past.
With cries to improve the team, lest they take all the blame,
We howl at the front office, we shout, and call them by name!

"Now Daniels! now, Preller! now, Levine and Welke!
On, Ryan! On, Purpura! on, on Boyd and Sunny!
To the top of the standing! to October's final out!
Now find us elite talent! From every exec to every scout!"

Will they spring to action, with a chance at improving?
It's not too late yet, but they'd better get moving.
Though I'd bet JD'd say, lest we think that he's done,
"Happy Christmas to all, and you're welcome for Upton!"

I hope you have a great Christmas day, Lone Star Ballers.
