T.R. Sullivan hints something could happen with Michael Young
So, T.R. Sullivan has a blog post up, dealing with Michael Young and R.A. Dickey, and his lead comment about Young is intriguing:
The Rangers are being very careful with what they say about Michael Young. They do not want another mess after what happened two years ago when they signed Adrian Beltre and moved Young to DH. But the Yankees are still without a third baseman after Eric Chavez signed with the Diamondbacks.
Reading between the lines, I'm guessing the Rangers don't want to create the appearance that they are shopping Michael Young. At the same time, I'm guessing the front office would like to move Young, for the same reasons they wanted to two years ago -- they're concerned about his declining abilities, and they'd prefer not to be in a situation where they either watch the manager give him 600+ plate appearances again, or undermine the manager's authority by mandating Young be benched (which would also result, I suspect, in a fair amount of drama in the clubhouse).
And the Yankees are one of the few teams Young would likely waive his no-trade clause to play for.
So we shall see how this develops...
UPDATE -- And strangely enough, now Sullivan's blog post is gone.
