Michael Young. Phuture Phillie? - Rick Scuteri-US PRESSWIRE

Waiting for Michael Young

This morning, we continue to wait on the Michael Young decision. He has the right to veto a trade, and he's still apparently making up his mind.

My position has always been, and still is, that I'm not going to criticize a player for exercising his no-trade rights. A player has earned that ability, either through negotiating that in his contract or through his service time. Its a lot easier for us to stand on the sideline and say that a player should abandon his family for six months and accept a move to a new location not of his choosing than for that player to actually have to do that. The fact that players make millions doesn't change that, in my mind, and the argument that a player is getting paid well so he should go wherever he's sent doesn't fly with me.

In any case...Evan Grant has a story at the DMN about Michael Young's no trade clause, Zack Greinke, and the Rangers' offseason.

David Murphy talks about Young being a superstar who had an off year in 2012, but who was still critical to the team's success because of his contributions to the clubhouse and team chemistry.

T.R. Sullivan writes that with the various additions of relievers great and small so far this offseason, the bullpen project is now going on the back burner while the Rangers focus on other areas.

Richard Justice has a column about the Rangers being the dominant force in the offseason so far.

Finally, not really Rangers related, but still kind of funny...former Ranger Matt Treanor apparently confronted L.A. Times columnist/troll T.J. Simers last year, cursed him out, and wanted to fight him.
